Greetings!

Hurricane Sandy
NYC under water

I am writing this month's Rose Report sitting on the sundeck of the Embassy Suites Hotel & Conference Center in Montgomery, Alabama.  Tomorrow morning I get to deliver my keynote, "Finding Your Mojo", to Legal Services Alabama and call it "work".  Thank you, Spirit, for this jubilant ride called Life!  I am blessed beyond measure to do what I love and get paid for it.

A few days ago, Sandy the Superstorm walloped our country with her ferocious winds, pounding rain, and unyielding tides.   As I sit here basking in the southern sunshine, there are millions of Americans without power, water or communication lines. Even worse, scores of people are no longer with us, and we haven't even begun to grasp the economic impact from Mother Nature's dramatic exhalation.  I can't even imagine what it must have been like for all of those who weathered those horrible hours only to find out that everything they owned was destroyed.  On Monday, everything was normal.  On Tuesday, everything was gone.  I am reminded of one of my mother's favorite lines, "There but for the Grace of God go I."  Indeed.

It is in times like these when we are invited to open our hearts and our pocketbooks to our neighbors far and wide.  Even though times are really tough for a lot of us, most of us will have the luxury of sleeping tonight in a warm bed with a roof over our heads.  We can get so caught up in some of the petty details that we lose sight of our most precious resources: our livelihood, our loved ones, and our lives.  Can we use this disaster as a wake-up call to our own hearts?  Can we finally put aside our surface differences (like who are we going to vote for next Tuesday) and recognize the truth that we are all in this together?  What happened in New York and the surrounding states could have just as easily happened in Florida, and did, in fact, happen in Louisiana seven years ago.  I personally am humbled by the emotional fortitude and outpouring of solidarity that is being demonstrated across the East Coast, and it is causing me to be more conscious of my own actions.  We can use this difficult time to be the best of who we are - a nation of strong, courageous and compassionate people who know that when all is said and done, we have no control over anything. We only have each other and our connection to the Divine.

Life is fragile, and it should be handled with care.  Have you ever had someone give you a boost?  Did a potential employer ever take a chance on you?  Did a friend or family member help you out when you were in a tough bind?  Have you ever received that much-needed loan to get you through those lean, Ramen noodle-eating days?  I invite you to join me in supporting our brothers and sisters to the northeast and give a little something to help them get back on their feet.  As you give, so too shall you receive.  You will receive the benefit of knowing that you let your heart lead you instead of your head. You will receive untold blessings in the form of good karma. You will receive the gift of recognizing and honoring the interconnectedness of all things.  You will receive Grace.

Thank you all for your ongoing support, and I hope that your November is filled with joyous moments and gestures of gratitude.  Life is amazing!!!  Let's not ever forget it.

Let's continue the conversation through Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and email.  Until next time, Happy Thanksgiving!

In joy,

Theresa

LHSC Sanctuary

The following are my ongoing events at Lake Harriet Spiritual Community in Southwest Minneapolis.  I hope to see you there soon!

Sunday Service

My next Celebration Service at Lake Harriet Spiritual Community will be on Sunday, November 4th from 10:30am-11:30am.  My services have been full of timely messages, profound meditation, and even a little pre-service spirit hooping!  If you are unable to attend in person but want to check out my last service, visit the LHSC YouTube channel

"Hoop in a Group" Workshop

My next local hoop workshop will be on Sunday, November 4th from 1:00pm-3:00pm, the same day as my Sunday services.  The class includes hooping basics, yoga, conscious intention work and hoopdancing!  I'll bring the hoops, and you bring your willingness to have fun. The cost is $30.  Space is limited, so registration is recommended.  Are you ready to step into the hoop and let it transform you?

Stuff I Love

TEDxSarasota

If you are connected to me via Facebook, you undoubtedly know that I am in the throes of preparing for my upcoming TEDTalk on 12/12/12. If you have never heard of TED, I encourage you to check it out.  TED stands for Technology, Entertainment and Design, and it's sole purpose is to get visionaries, thought leaders and change agents together to present "ideas worth spreading".  Speaking at a TED event is one of my greatest professional achievements to date, and I am beside myself with joy (and more than a little nerves!) I will be presenting "The Hoop Revolution: How Joyful Movement Will Transform the World" at TEDxSarasota in the Historic Asolo Theatre.  Hopefully some of my Floridian friends will be in attendance!  If you live in the Gulfcoast, please consider attending TEDxSarasota on December 12th.  If you are not in the area but want to join the TED community, visit TED.com to watch some of the most fascinating, inspiring, and thought-provoking videos ever made.  I am consciously intending that my 12-minute ode to the hoop will result in a video that will touch millions of hearts as other TED presenters have touched mine.  Let's put down the remote and get engaged! To paraphrase the Hopi prophesy, we are the ones we have been waiting for.
