Dear NAIFA-Texas Member,
A few short months ago I stood in front of many of you at our state conference and took an oath to serve you as President to the best of my ability. I am proud to serve you and humbled by your trust. I am confident that your NAIFA-Texas board will serve you well this year.
Our goals are simple, challenging and realistic for the 2013-2014 association year:
1. Engagement: What would it be like to have 200 Texans at the NAIFA Convention this fall in San Antonio? It would be electric, inspiring and productive. If you have never been to a national convention, this is the year to see what it is all about. I would encourage you to volunteer at the convention and get involved. I guarantee that if you attend and participate you will make memories that will last a lifetime and you will be a better agent/advisor for your clients.
2. Advocacy: Participation in advocacy is more important for our members and their clients than at any time in our history. We must be vigilant in protecting the products and services we offer our clients. Washington heard our message concerning the tax favored status of our products loud and clear at the April Congressional Conference, but we must continue to reinforce it. Make an appointment and visit with your representative in the district this August while they are on break and again in D.C. next spring. Please give to the PAC and participate in our legislative days. Never forget that the first part of the NAIFA-Texas mission calls for us to "advocate for a positive legislative and regulatory environment".
3. Membership: We currently have over 2700 members, we are strong - but we could be much stronger! Do you know a colleague who should be a member? Invite them to join us today! Close the sale! Don't take no for an answer! Join us as we aim to grow membership this year.
Finally, I would like to thank those who have come before me and contributed to our proud history. I would like to give special thanks to my predecessor, Doug Massey, whose leadership this past year saw us through a successful State Legislative Day, an unprecedented Congressional Congress and so much more.
Thank you for honoring me as your President. Let's make this a great year! See you in San Antonio.
