The New Jersey State Board of Education convened first as the New Jersey State Board of Career and Technical Education. The agenda included an overview and goals for Career Readiness and CTE. The Board viewed presentations from Cape May Regional School District, Morris County Vocational-Technical School District and Union City School District.
President's Report The State Board adopted the following resolutions:

Commissioner's Report Graduation: Ensuring a Meaningful Diploma for New Jersey Students NJDOE Special Assistant to the Commissioner, Data Literacy, Bari Anhalt Erlichson, Ph.D., and NJDOE Chief Performance Officer Don Mitchell reviewed for the Board New Jersey's graduation process and additional approaches utilized by other states. The challenge facing New Jersey is ensuring all students leave high school with the necessary knowledge and skills while empowering schools to implement curriculum and instructional programs. Monmouth-Ocean Educational Services Commission (MOESC) MOESC Superintendent/CEO Christopher Rooney presented a request to enlarge its purpose. | Adoption Resolution State Special Education Advisory CouncilThe State Board approved two new appointments and eight re-appointments to the State Special Education Advisory Council for a period of two years, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 18A:4-66.1 and US P. L. 94-142. Second Discussion Educator Effectiveness From the May meeting, the State Board continued its discussion regarding NJDOE's proposed amendments pertaining to educator evaluation at N.J.A.C. 6A: 9C Professional Development and N.J.A.C. 6A:10, Educator Effectiveness pursuant to N.J.S.A. 18A:1-1, 18A:4-15, 18A:6-34 and 38, 18A:26-2.7 and 10, and P.L. 2012, c. 11., and N.J.S.A. 18A:4-15.
