A Few Words from Teaching Elder Roy Mason..

Friends of Grace,

I hope your week this week has been a great one thus far!  Our ministry in Africa has been both wonderful and challenging.  Thus far, our teams have been able to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with nearly 12,000 individuals in 77 different ministry venues.  Praise the Lord!  The food has been good and our accommodations clean and adequate. Please continue to be in constant prayer for us - we are very much encouraged knowing you are praying.  We are all in this together!

It is my prayer that you will be blessed by the preaching and teaching of Elder Rev. Pete Stamey during this time I am away.  Please make every effort to be in attendance this coming Sunday morning.  Should you happen to not be able to be with us and miss any message,
click here to listen as soon as they are posted.

Missions is It!

God wants His people to partner with Him in the process of redeeming our lost world. Much of the Old Testament reports on His efforts to get the Israelites to be His "priestly nation" and "a light to the nations." But they kept forgetting His purpose in calling them together in the first place, despite the prophets He sent to remind them, as summarized by Stephen in Acts 7. Finally, Jesus came as Savior, but God's idea of having His people work with Him in the redemption process remained unchanged. The Book of Acts records how the church Jesus started became empowered by the Holy Spirit to tell of God's love far and wide. But His original intent is the same-He wants to be in a relationship with all the peoples of the world, and He wants us to help make it happen. This is missions, and it is the uniting theme of the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation. Here's a shorthand way to express it:

Missions is not part of the church program.

Missions is the church program.

Our Help and Protection

Our present world is sorely fragmented with flak and shrapnel coming from every facet of life. By ourselves we can't duck any of it. If it were not for our Lord it could do us in. However, we have promises from God that protect us from anything the world, flesh or devil might fling at us.

"The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame." Isaiah 58:11 "Therefore since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through Our Lord Jesus Christ through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand." Romans 5:1,2

Prayer Room Volunteers Needed

God has said that His house is one of prayer.  It is the foundation for all ministry.  If you believe you are being called by God to pray on Sunday mornings during the teaching time please call Barbara Abbott at 828-478-1073, or e-mail her at prayer@gfellowship.org to sign up.  This is a rotation ministry and you will probably be called to pray once every two or three months.  As intercessor, you will be with the congregation for the praise and worship and then go to the prayer room at the back of the sanctuary during the time that Pastor Roy teaches.  There are many aids in the prayer room to help you pray.
