Missions is It!
God wants His people to partner with Him in the process of redeeming our lost world. Much of the Old Testament reports on His efforts to get the Israelites to be His "priestly nation" and "a light to the nations." But they kept forgetting His purpose in calling them together in the first place, despite the prophets He sent to remind them, as summarized by Stephen in Acts 7. Finally, Jesus came as Savior, but God's idea of having His people work with Him in the redemption process remained unchanged. The Book of Acts records how the church Jesus started became empowered by the Holy Spirit to tell of God's love far and wide. But His original intent is the same-He wants to be in a relationship with all the peoples of the world, and He wants us to help make it happen. This is missions, and it is the uniting theme of the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation. Here's a shorthand way to express it:
Missions is not part of the church program.
Missions is the church program.

Grace
The moralism that confines goodness to the region of law and duty is a huge deception. True goodness lets us "feel in our face the sweet air blowing from the land of righteousness". It is GRACE sweeping over undeserving people who have flaws and pimples.........it is the goodness of God. When we discover GRACE we know that God is hovering and the Holy Spirit is doing His job. To ignore that Truth is very costly. Talk to Him about GRACE! From an Anthology of George MacDonald (mentor to C. S. Lewis) Ephesians 2: 1 - 10

Prayer Room Volunteers Needed
God has said that His house is one of prayer. It is the foundation for all ministry. If you believe you are being called by God to pray on Sunday mornings during the teaching time please call Barbara Abbott at 828-478-1073, or e-mail her at prayer@gfellowship.org to sign up. This is a rotation ministry and you will probably be called to pray once every two or three months. As intercessor, you will be with the congregation for the praise and worship and then go to the prayer room at the back of the sanctuary during the time that Pastor Roy teaches. There are many aids in the prayer room to help you pray.
