I first learned of Almased at

Her comment got my attention--I decided to give the product a try. It's a protein powder that you mix into a shake as a meal substitute. Depending on how much weight you want to lose, you substitute 1-3 meals per day. I decided on one shake a day mid- morning, the time I usually eat breakfast.
I add a banana to my Almased shake, lots of ice, and blend. After finishing my shake, I'm satisfied until around 3:00. I have a small amount of protein at that time, and then a normal dinner at 6:30. I even have an occasional dessert (surprise, surprise). In 5 weeks, I've lost 5 lbs. Slow, steady weight loss without feeling deprived! Plus, my energy level is up and I'm not craving mid-afternoon sugar.
