ever wanted your artwork or writings published in a magazine? Now's your chance.
SPARK is now accepting submissions.
Spark is NSCC's new literary and artistic magazine showcasing NSCC's talented writers and artists in an interesting and visually dynamic format.
Guidelines for submission:
- Blind submissions are reviewed by a committee of three to five students and faculty members. Once submissions are scored, those submissions with the highest scores will be selected for publication.
- Literary Categories include essay, literary criticism, journalism interviews, poetry, short story (fiction or nonfiction). Submissions should be 1,000 words or less and must be submitted in Word or a similar text program. Each submission should be accompanied by a brief biographical statement about the student.
- Artistic Categories include fine art, photography, graphic design, and multi-media.
- Pictures of artwork should be cropped to show just the artwork and submitted as a final piece.
- Accepted file types JPG, EPS (with all type set to outlines), PDF or TIF. All images must be 300 dpi. For multimedia presentations, please contact Victoria Pasciuto.
- Multimedia Categories include a commercial for North Shore Community College (either :30, :45, or :60 in length), a Public Service Announcement (PSA) (also :30, :45, or :60 in length), or a creative short/free style piece (no longer than 3 minutes).

- All submissions may be sent via e-mail to the
following e-mail address: SPARK@northshore.edu
- All submissions must be sent to the following e-mail address by January 17, 2014.
- In the subject line please type "Literary Submission"
or "Artistic Submission"
- The maximum amount of submissions is five
- No compensation will be offered to students for their submissions beyond the honor of being published.
