Blind Date with a Book is Back!
Blind dates have never been so fun! Stop by any Deschutes Public Library branch on Saturday, February 13, and take a chance on a Blind Date with a Book. You'll find cleverly disguised books on display with brief descriptions. Choose one and you and your book are ready to enjoy a cozy evening together!
Don't Miss Lisa See on February 25
Best-selling author Lisa See joins us for Author! Author! on February 25. In addition to her award-winning books, such as Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, See has also written for magazines including Vogue and Self, and wrote a libretto for the opera based on her book On Gold Mountain: The 100 Year Odyssey of My Chinese-American FamilyTickets are $25 for general admission seating, and $75 for premium seating and a private reception with See.
Hora de cuentos en Espa�ol/Storytimes in Spanish Now at the East Bend Library
Hora de cuentos en Espa�ol. Es un tiempo interactivo con cuentos, canciones, rimas y manualidades. Join us every Friday at 10:30 for Listos para el Kinder/Ready for Kindergarten at the East Bend Library. We'll read stories, sing songs, recite rhymes and do crafts---all in Spanish! This fun and interactive storytime is open to all, whether your child already speaks Spanish or you're looking to expand his or her language horizons.
Find Great Art in Your Libraries
Explore the work of talented local artists at your libraries. "The Four Seasons" runs through March 7 at the Downtown Bend Library. Works by Scott Beyer, Lucynda Campbell, Terry Ferguson, Lawrence Koppy, Wendy Beth Oliver, and Nancy Peterson are on display at the Redmond Library through March 31. In Sisters, the Library's annual art exhibit can be viewed through February 25, and the Sunriver Library features the work of Grace Kennedy through March.
Music at the Library: Moon Mountain Ramblers, Five Pint Mary
Don't miss two of Central Oregon's favorite music acts over the next few weeks---free and at the library! Members of the Moon Mountain Ramblers bring a variety of bluegrass instruments to play songs from their bluegrass repertoire, as well as to talk about the history of the music, on February 22. And you can kick off your St. Patrick's Day celebration with a performance by Five Pint Mary on March 9.
Upcoming Delayed Openings & Closures
Please note the following delayed openings at Deschutes Public Library branches to allow for team planning:
- Redmond Library: Feb. 16, opening at 1:00 p.m.
- Downtown Bend Library: Feb. 18, opening at 1:00 p.m.

All libraries will be closed on Monday, February 15, in observance of Presidents' Day.
