We're Thankful for ... the Library's New Early Learning Spaces
Have you seen our new Early Learning Spaces yet? They're being installed at several branches in the district. The one pictured at left and below just opened at the East Bend Library. These spaces offer a fun, interactive environment for toddlers and young children to interact, imagine and PLAY. In addition to the East Bend Library, you'll find Early Learning Spaces at the Sisters Library, the Redmond Library, the Downtown Bend Library, and the La Pine Library. The Early Learning Spaces are made possible by a generous grant from The Oregon Community Foundation as well as from the Sisters Friends of the Library, the Deschutes Public Library Foundation, and SCOOTR, Inc. Thank you!

We're Thankful for ... Library Staff Picks
Julie: Tiffany Aching (series)"A hidden gem for fantasy lovers, or anyone who would like to give fan
tasy a try without making a 1,000-page commitment."
Linda O.: Morning Glory. "Juxtaposes two time periods, connecting the characters in a skillful manner with a little bit of mystery, intrigue, romance, and history."
Heidi: Labyrinth (DVD). "One of my all-time favorite movies. If you're a fan of the Muppets or David Bowie, check out this musical fantasy film."
Nate P.: Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norell (audiobook): "A perfect marriage of voice to story--and what a story it is--about the return of magic to Regency-era England. A BBC mini-series is currently being filmed."
