Another Fresh Batch!
We've just received another load of parts from across the pond! Keep a look out for back order letters to come out; if you have something on back order, we will notify you by email or snail mail as we process the incoming order. If you're curious about what we've received, give us a ring-we may have that long lost part!

Customer Highlight
Attached is a picture of my 1967 BSA Wasp. The 500 competition brother to the Hornets. I went to the UK in 2010 and researched the original factory production books. My findings are that less than 20 of the Wasp were ever produced, all off of the normal factory production line, all by special order. That was also verified by the BSAOCUK librarian. I rescued it from tall weeds next to a barb wire fence behind an old barn. It had been cannibalized over the years, so a lot of parts were missing. I restored it back to factory new condition with original and NOS parts. I will likely take it to the International Rally in May. -GARY in OREGON

British Biker Cooperative
The BBC is a great organization here in the uppermidwest. They host a number of rallies and events and have a great calendar on their website, and even sponsor riders. If you find yourself up here this season, perhaps you can link up for an event or a rally. Check out their website here. We'd like to say thanks to them for their continued support of the bikes, the riders, and shops like ours. If you have a club or organization you want to share with us, let us know!

Greetings KBP Customers!
Well, it looks like we may survive after all. Here in Minnesota, we've almost made it through the worst winter in about 30 years! Given that it's just now March, it may be another 6 weeks minimum before we can break out the bikes. Spring couldn't come fast enough! As you lucky dogs that are fortunate enough to start riding here soon get those 'ol girls out, I wanted to emphasize an important part of our business practice here at Klempf's. Very few of you get an order out without us having at least one or two questions. Often, we need measurements and/or pictures of the parts you're after-and when you take the time to do it, the payoffs can be huge. For example, take a commonly requested part-an oil pressure sending unit. These come in two threads (sound familiar?), one tapered and one straight. And, get this-the parts book is often wrong here, so a person may reply with, "well, send me that part number!". Well, if we just did that every time, we'd have a lot of unhappy people because they'd wreck the timing cover with a tapered thread sending unit when it should've been a straight thread. | A beautiful cover, wrecked.
|
These mistakes can be costly. Because we focus only on parts, these problems (fit and quality issues, part variants, etc.) are well documented here, and I am able to take every step I can to make sure that we not only buy correctly manufactured parts in the first place, but that we sell you only what we know works. Frankly, some of the reproduction parts can be similar in quality if made to proper spec. But, not all suppliers take the time to break out the micrometer and/or inspect everything that comes through their door like we do. When you order with Klempf's, no matter if it's online, on the phone, or walk-in, I hand pick and verify every part, label and organize them, throw in a few suckers, and send it down the line to be packed by our pros. And if, even after this attention to detail, we do make a mistake, we'll exchange for a parts credit no questions asked, straight across the board. Sure, we may not be the cheapest online or in-house, but you save money by getting it right the first time, not shipping parts repeatedly back to multiple vendors before maybe getting it right later. Other vendors can be cheaper because their entire operation is-including their attention to detail. | A typical order, well-organized and labeled.
|
So, as we move into the busy riding season, remember the core mission here at Klempf's: to provide quality parts and knowledgeable expertise. It sounds simple, but boy can it be complicated. If you help me with the details I may need, we'll help you keep that 'ol girl running for years to come-and you'll have no problem getting it right the first time! My best, Mitch Klempf Klempf's British Parts |

Mitch's Tips & Technical Information
A free resource for those that want to get it right.
The following is an example of a recent Mitch's Tip we put out. Please note that we will have about 10 more additional tips coming out within the next week or so. They are available for free download on our Mitch's Tips page. How many of you have heard us say, "do you want petcocks that look original or ones that actually work?". The problem lies with modern ethanolic fuel-the cork in many of the petcocks just doesn't stand up to modern fuel! So, there are really two choices: use an o-ring kit to replace the cork, or go to an all-alloy style petcock. This tip can be found in it's entirety on our site as well as embedded in the part descriptions in most cases. We've done this with countless items now-in our part descriptions online, we provide technical information about the part, what variants might be out there, what problems there are, etc. It takes time, but we want you to have access to great information-and get it right the first time on your own if possible!
