Rep. Peter King Introduces Elder Justice Act Reauthorization
The Elder Justice Coalition praises the introduction of a new bill to reauthorize the Elder Justice Act, which expired on October 1, 2014. On Friday, February 13, 2015, Rep. Peter King (R-NY) introduced H.R. 988 in the House, entitled the Elder Justice Reauthorization Act of 2015. This bill would simply reauthorize the Act for five years. Bob Blancato, National Coordinator of the EJC, stated, "The introduction of the Elder Justice Reauthorization Act of 2015 is another important step forward in the fight against elder abuse. Rep. King is a champion for elder justice and we look forward to working with him to get this bill through Congress."

The original co-sponsors of the bill are Reps. Michelle Lujan Grisham (D-NM), Eric Swalwell (D-CA), Earl Blumenauer (D-OR), Lois Frankel (D-FL), Alan Grayson (D-FL) and Mike Honda (D-CA). It has been referred to the Ways and Means Committee, the Judiciary Committee, the Education and Workforce Committee and the Energy and Commerce Committee.
