Sharing ideas that matter: InnovationEX 2015

During InnovationEx, participants could share ideas on some of health care's most pressing questions at the Idea Cafe.


On April 1, North York General Hospital hosted InnovationEx, 
an exposition and exchange designed to highlight the very best innovations from community hospitals.


InnovationEx was presented by the Joint Centres for Transformative Healthcare Innovation, a partnership between six large community hospitals to share innovations focused on improving quality and value in health care.

Nurse Practitioner Donna Ruffo took a moment to talk about why she loves nursing and why she wouldn't change a thing if she could do it all over again. 

"I work as a consultant at North York General, so I can be anywhere in the hospital where a geriatric consult is needed." Education, research and leadership are also key components of Donna's role.

NYGH launches responsive website 

North York General Hospital's responsive website is user friendly for visitors on mobile phones.


To ensure our website is user friendly for visitors on mobile phones, the Corporate Communications and Public Affairs Department looked at best practices to determine which approach would provide the optimal user experience. Our solution was to create a mobile-friendly responsive website.

Colourful Minds: Creating a space of collaboration
 

This wall mural is part of the Colourful Minds pilot project t North York General Hospital.


Toronto Art Therapy Institute student Marina Saad partnered with North York General Hospital's Recreational Therapy department to design a unique three-week pilot project on the adult inpatient psychiatric unit. 


Project:Colourful Minds had a successful three-week trial and received overwhelming positive feedback.

Patient Advisor wins 20 Faces of Change Award

Patient and Family Advisor Pat Mackey is a recipient, posthumously, of a 20 Faces of Change Award for her contributions to improving patient- and family-centred care.


North York General Hospital Patient and Family Advisor Patricia (Pat) Mackey
 is a recipient, posthumously, of a 20 Faces of Change Award for her contributions to improving patient- and family-centred care.


When Pat's cancer returned in 2013, she agreed to share her thoughts on what it is like to live with a terminal cancer diagnosis, 
the role of patient and family advisors, and her experience as a patient.
