MTI workshop set for Caribou

CARIBOU - Aroostook companies interested in growing and commercializing their technologies are invited to attend an upcoming workshop to learn more about the funding and resources available to them to bring technologies to market.

The Maine Technology Institute (MTI) is holding statewide sessions and one, being held in partnership with the Northern Maine Development Commission, is scheduled for the Caribou Inn and Convention Center Sept. 20 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Workshops will include information on funding and resources through:

  • MTI's Business Innovation Program for funding from $5,000 to $500,000 for business planning, market research, intellectual property filing, prototype development or later-stage research and development activities for technology-based business ventures.
  • Federal Small Business Innovation Research and Technology Transfer Research grants, which is a $2.5 billion federal funding program.

There will also be information on the Innovation Engineering program at the University of Maine and opportunities for research and development with U.M.

"Northern Maine Development Commission has a particular interest in providing our business community with access to programs and services that could have meaningful value to a company's bottom line and this workshop certainly meets that objective," said Alain Ouellette, NMDC planning and development division director.

To register for the upcoming workshop, visit the MTI website at www.mainetechnology.org and refer to the calendar section or contact Linda Adams, program assistant at  ladams@mainetechnology.org
