5 Reasons to Exercise with Others
Exercising with others can be a lot of fun - but it's more than that. Here are 5 benefits for working out in a partner or group setting.
1. Fun
Working out alone can get stale. With a partner, you can play squash, teach each other new exercises or move through a challenging circuit together.
2. Motivation
We're all motivated by others. Seeing your partner do 20 crunches makes you want to do 25. And knowing you're not in it alone makes it easier to get out of bed for a class or morning run.
3. Accountability
You might back out on your own tentative plan to head to the gym after work, but are you willing to cancel on a friend? Knowing others hold you accountable gives you an extra push.
4. Consistency
Fitness is all about habit building. Having a regularly scheduled exercise time, whether it's a group class or a daily walk, will help ensure you exercise on a consistent basis.
5. Safety
When you work out together, you'll always have a spotter and someone to call you on sloppy technique. This can help you avoid injuries and get a better workout.
