PoWeR Session 1
Our first PoWeR session of the year was a huge success. We had 177 students earn a whole quarter's worth of credit in one week! Students had opportunities to learn to cook, become peer mentors, look at colleges, prepare college essays and applications, prepare for the spring musical, travel to California and so much more! We still have openings for our 2nd PoWeR session in April. Look for for more information after the first of the year.
 
Cap & Gown Information
Seniors met with a Herff Jones representative on November 5th and received information and order forms for caps and gowns, announcements and class rings. Herff Jones will be back on November 19th from 8:00 am -3:00 pm to collect orders and payments. If your student missed the meeting extra packets can be picked up from Ms. Weiland in the main office. If you have any questions about ordering you can call Herff Jones at 970-663-2668. You can also place your orders online.
The graduation gowns are being custom made for Vista PEAK Preparatory. Our class of 2014 will be the very first ones to ever wear these gowns. All gowns will be rented from Herff Jones. Cap and gown rentals are $40 and the students will keep the caps and tassels.
Yearbook

TIME IS RUNNING OUT!  Purchase your yearbook today for $35.00 to guarantee that you receive one at the end of the year!  After December 19, the price will go up and it will be first come-first served with our remaining stock of yearbooks.  Reserve yours now and keep a piece of Vista Peak history forever.

 

 

ATTENTION PARENT/GUARDIANS OF SENIORS:  The deadline for submitting senior pictures, senior quotes, and purchasing custom space has been extended to December 15.  All picture and quote submissions should be sent to  [email protected] with your seniors last name and first name in the subject line (Last name_First name).  Custom space can be purchased in the following sizes: Whole page ($140.00)  � page ($100.00) or � page ($50.00).  Payment must be made to the bookkeeper Mrs. McLellan NO LATER THAN DECEMBER 15.  Pictures and text can be emailed to  [email protected], or you can drop a hard copy off at the school.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Mr. Bakersky.


 

Latino Student Alliance
The first meeting of the Latino Student Alliance was a huge success. We had about 40 students come together and learn about and create sugar skulls! The next meeting will be held on Tuesday Dec. 3rd with the Black Student Alliance.

  
Winter Athletics

Attention all winter sports athletes!

Our boys and girls basketball, wrestling and girls swimming is just around the corner!  In order to participate, you MUST have a completed packet on file in the athletics office (only one packet is needed for the entire school year).  You also need a current physical and need to pay the $60 fee to the bookkeeper. Everything must be turned in by Monday, November 11th.  Please see Mrs. Cole in the athletics office to make sure you are cleared to play.

Vouchers for FREE physicals may be obtained in the Athletics Office.

 

Wrestling 

Also, attention all boys interested in wrestling. Coach Benedict will have a meeting on Monday, Nov. 11, at 5:15 in the weight room.

 

Athletic Meeting for Winter Sports

Attention ALL parents of students who are participating in a winter sport (basketball, wrestling or swimming). There is a mandatory parent & student meeting on Wed. Nov. 20 at 7:30 pm in the auditorium. We look forward to seeing you then! 

 

Winter Sports Pass 

Winter Sport Passes are available in the athletics office.  For just $35 you can attend all home boys and girls basketball games.  Makes a great gift to give to a family member or friend!

PTSA

PTSA would like to you join us on Tues., Nov. 12, from 6:00-7:00 in the Exploratory Learning Commons.  Please be aware, that the location may change due to the Book Fair.

Chili's Fundraiser

Please join Chili's and Vista Peak Softball for a give back night to help support our Team. It's simple, just bring in this flyer to Chili's on 3451 N. Tower Rd on 11/18/2013 and 10% of your check will go towards Vista Peak Softball Team. It's a great way to help our team out. Police, Fire and Sheriff Cadet Program
The Denver Public Safety Office offers a Cadet Program for graduating seniors who are interested in police/fire/sheriff careers. Attached is a flyer of the program and their website.
Yoga
We are so pleased to announce Vista PEAK's new
partnership with ONE Yoga studio! ONE Yoga is co-owned by Sherif Sakr and George Karl of the Denver Nuggets. Check out their website.
Yoga classes will be offered every week for all staff and community members at the Exploratory in room C-124. Classes will taught by a ONE Yoga certified instructor every
Tuesday from 4-5pm, and every Wednesday from 7-8pm. Payment is by donation only, so you get to name the price! Mats are provided. We are hoping for a big turnout, so please tell your friends, spouses, and community members about this opportunity (adults only please).

H2O Outdoors at Keystone Science School 
Aurora Water is sponsoring up to ten Aurora High School students to attend " H2O Outdoors" at the keystone Science School November 13-14. During the three day program, students will learn about their watershed while hiking the Continental Divide, get in the river and learn how to test water quality, work with students from around Colorado, learn from water experts in the field and debate water issues in a mock town hall meeting. Students only pay a $25 application fee, the rest is covered by Aurora Water! The application deadline is October 18th. For more information and to apply go to the website here.
