We are enforcing district policy on school ID's this year and the students have been awesome in wearing their ID's out and visible. Just a reminder that as a school the first ID is free and any replacements after that are $5.

Cross Country Fundraiser
| | Thursday, September 5th, the Cross Country team will be hosting a fundraising event at Chick Fil A near Southlands. Visit Chick Fill A anytime between 6 am - 10 pm and mention Vista PEAK and a portion of the proceeds will go to the Cross Country team.

Counseling Updates
The Counseling website is being updated regularly so keep checking it for updates especially regarding scholarships and college material. Please visit the counseling tab on the Vista PEAK Preparatory website.
Seniors should be accessing their Naviance pages in order to help the college process. How to Access Naviance:- Go to Vista PEAK Prep webpage
- Go to Naviance on the quick links tab on the top right corner.
- Username is your Student ID #
- Password is the 8 digit birthday, mm/dd/yyyy
If you are unable to access your Naviance page, please let your counselor know College bound seniors should have their top 3 schools listed on Naviance. Friday, October 11th at 12:30 a rep from the University of Alaska at Fairbanks will be visiting. This is an excellent opportunity for students in STEM or who are interested in a career in engineering as they will be representing the College of Engineering and Mines. Students can reserve a spot via Naviance. Senior night is just around the corner! It is September 11 immediately after parent teacher conferences. The counseling team will be providing information regarding Naviance as well as college applications and scholarship opportunities. Art Class
Just a friendly reminder that if a student is taking an art class (Intro to Art (2D or 3D), 2 Dimensional Design, Drawing, Painting, Ceramics, Adobe Illustrator, & Adobe Photoshop) they are responsible for paying a $20 art fee for each class they are in. Payments should be made to the bookkeeper - please specify which class you are paying for when making a payment.

Homecoming
Please save the date. Vista PEAK will be hosting our first annual Homecoming Saturday. We will have the Bison Stampede (5K and kids fun run) starting at 8 am, followed by a pancake breakfast (hosted by the Bison Backers), then a homecoming parade, with finally our football game at 1:00 v. Weld Central. All activities will be held here on campus. We hope for great attendance from our staff, students and community. Please spread the word!!!

PTSA News
PTSA meeting on Sept. 10 @ 6-7 in the Exploratory Learning Commons - Child care will be provided. We NEED parents to help us with some of the wonderful upcoming events planned for this year. Find out how you can get involved!
The fall sports season is here, come out and support our Bison athletes! You can purchase your fall athletic pass for $15 (students) and $35 (adults) -- good for all home games. See Kathy Cole in the Athletic office for more information.

Parent Teacher Conferences
It's hard to believe put parent Teacher Conferences are just around the corner! Conferences will be held on September 11th and 12th from 4:00 PM - 7:30 PM. Conferences are a open house style format so parents may come anytime during the window and meet with the teachers they need to. Parents please please bring your students with you to conferences.

Report Cards
To help cut down on operating costs we will no longer be mailing home report cards. We are asking parents to utilize the Parent Portal to monitor their students grades. Teachers are working on updating grades weekly. If you have not set up your Parent Portal account please call or visit the main office to receive your activation key. If you have questions about Parent Portal you can use this help sheet or call the main office. Parents will receive a copy of their students progress reports during parent teacher conferences. If you have no means to view your child's grades electronically please call the main office for a paper copy.

H2O Outdoors at Keystone Science School
Aurora Water is sponsoring up to ten Aurora High School students to attend " H2O Outdoors" at the keystone Science School November 13-14. During the three day program, students will learn about their watershed while hiking the Continental Divide, get in the river and learn how to test water quality, work with students from around Colorado, learn from water experts in the field and debate water issues in a mock town hall meeting. Students only pay a $25 application fee, the rest is covered by Aurora Water! The application deadline is October 18th. For more information and to apply go to the website here.

Aviation Ground School
Once again APS is offering a free Aviation Ground School. Classes Start September 7th. See Flyer for details. Students will need to sign-up using the web link on the respective attached flyer. Once we have enough students registered we will send a confirmation email to the students letting them know they are in the class-seats are limited and it is first come, first serve. In the confirmation email we will include all of the dates, times, class locations, and other helpful info.

Senior Portraits In the weeks to come more information will be available about the requirements for turning in senior pictures to the yearbook staff. In the mean time if you are still looking for a photographer for your senior portraits please see the attached flyer for a local photographer offering packages.

Youth Council
The Center is now accepting applications for YES˛, Youth Engaged for School Safety, a youth advisory council for students entering grades 9 through 12 for the 2013-2014 school-year.
