Parent Teacher Conferences
It's hard to believe put parent Teacher Conferences are just around the corner! Conferences will be held on September 11th and 12th from 4:00 PM - 7:30 PM. Conferences are a open house style format so parents may come anytime during the window and meet with the teachers they need to. Parents please please bring your students with you to conferences.

Report Cards
To help cut down on operating costs we will no longer be mailing home report cards. We are asking parents to utilize the Parent Portal to monitor their students grades. Teachers are working on updating grades weekly. If you have not set up your Parent Portal account please call or visit the main office to receive your activation key. If you have questions about Parent Portal you can use this help sheet or call the main office. Parents will receive a copy of their students progress reports during parent teacher conferences. If you have no means to view your child's grades electronically please call the main office for a paper copy.

PTSA
Thank you for everyone that came out to our PTSA Ice Cream Social. We were able to get many parents and community members signed up to volunteer, obtain community and school information, as well as inform students and families the value of PTSA. If you didn't make it, don't worry you can join us on Tues., Sept. 10 at 6:00-7:00PM in the Exploratory Learning Commons for our first meeting of the school year. We will have child care available. Fittings for Letter Jackets will be held in the Cafe on Tuesday, August 27th during all lunches. Order forms are outside Athletics Office. Payment may be made by check or credit card. All orders are due to the athletic office by Friday, August 30th at 1:00 PM

H2O Outdoors at Keystone Science School
Aurora Water is sponsoring up to ten Aurora High School students to attend " H2O Outdoors" at the keystone Science School November 13-14. During the three day program, students will learn about their watershed while hiking the Continental Divide, get in the river and learn how to test water quality, work with students from around Colorado, learn from water experts in the field and debate water issues in a mock town hall meeting. Students only pay a $25 application fee, the rest is covered by Aurora Water! The application deadline is October 18th. For more information and to apply go to the website here.

Aviation Ground School
Once again APS is offering a free Aviation Ground School. Classes Start September 7th. See Flyer for details. Students will need to sign-up using the web link on the respective attached flyer. Once we have enough students registered we will send a confirmation email to the students letting them know they are in the class-seats are limited and it is first come, first serve. In the confirmation email we will include all of the dates, times, class locations, and other helpful info.

A ir Force Forum
Do you know any families with middle or high-school aged kids who are interested in the Air Force Academy? USAFA will be hosting a free forum from 1-4 PM on Saturday, August 24th, with optional free tours in the morning. It'll be a great chance to see the facilities, meet some recent graduates, and learn about the opportunities USAFA has to offer. Details on the application timeline and process will also be given. Senior Portraits In the weeks to come more information will be available about the requirements for turning in senior pictures to the yearbook staff. Aurora Public Schools is now using School Messenger as the automated messaging system to communicate with parents and staff. This is the messaging system that APS and your school will use to contact you about emergencies, student attendance and other important information. Youth Council
The Center is now accepting applications for YES˛, Youth Engaged for School Safety, a youth advisory council for students entering grades 9 through 12 for the 2013-2014 school-year. If you are interested in and dedicated to improving school safety and school culture in the state of Colorado, please see the information below.
