Medical Staff Policy and Procedure: Consultations

The SMMC Board of Directors recently approved changes to St. Mary's Medical Staff Policy & Procedure on Consultations. This policy became effective on April 26, 2013. I wish to especially thank Dr. Robert Franklin and the members of the Bylaws Committee for their work on this policy.  Please contact Medical Affairs if you have any questions regarding this policy.

Announcing CARE Partners' Pilot Group and Information on the Transition of Care Billing Codes

July is quickly approaching and brings with it the implementation of CARE Partners' pilot group. Drs. Jerry Best, Harry Harvey and Kent McKinney of Newburgh Primary Physicians have agreed to serve as pilot group partners. Physician Disaster Response
The Disaster Preparedness Committee of St. Mary's has intensified its planning and preparedness programs for extended periods of time.  Several strategies are being implemented to sustain hospital operations for 96 hours and beyond if the event dictates such measures. In February 2013, Clinical Practice Guidelines for Antimicrobial Prophylaxis in Surgery were published. Moxifloxacin No Longer on Formulary

All patients will be concerted from Moxifloxacin to Levofloxacin. Please write orders for Levofloxacin instead of Moxifloxacin.This would prevent any confusion in the conversion process. Read more to learn about this conversion.

In the Scriptures and sacred writings of many faith traditions, we are encouraged to "pray always," bringing times of prayer into our daily routines.  Can we really do this at work? Or is prayer only possible when we are outside the demands of our jobs?
