The TPC Board of Governors would like to balance its composition so it better reflects the full range of perspectives of the TPC membership. For this reason, the Nominating Committee seeks women candidates interested in filling an open Board seat, particularly women with young children. Experience in business, marketing, or finance is also a plus.

If you would like to pursue a position on the TPC Board, please contact Nancy Shapiro by Friday, September 16, 2016.

If you are not ready for a Board position but would like to help make our Club better, please consider joining a committee. The Nominating Committee can help connect you with one of our many committees including, Marketing, Finance, Aquatics, Tennis, Fitness, Youth and House & Grounds.

If you have any questions, contact General Manager, Jerry Pang, or Nancy Shapiro (cell: 415 786-5059 or email: nshapi@aol.com).

TIBURON CHALLENGER LOGISTICS

The USTA Men's Pro Circuit Tiburon Challenger starts on September 24 through October 2, 2016. For more information regarding tickets and sponsorship, visit www.tiburonchallenger.com/. As we get closer to play, player's lists and draws will be posted on the Challenger website.

Courts will be at a premium during the event, particularly on Saturday, September 24 when all 12 courts will be used that morning for qualifying matches and the USTA Norcal Junior Day Clinic. Courts #2-3 will be closed starting on Monday, September 19 for the construction of the Stadium Court. We anticipate it will take 2-3 days to take the Stadium Court down and clean the upper court area.

On August 29-30 we will reseal the driveway and path from Mar West Street leading to the Fitness Room. During the week of September 6, we will be painting the retaining wall on Courts #2 and #5. These courts will also be closed on Monday, September 12 for the installation of new fencing. Member's comments are encouraged and welcome - please email your ideas to us at TPCMaintenance@tiburonpc.org.

Till next week,

TIBURON TRIATHOLON: AUGUST 28

The Tiburon Volunteer Fire Department's annual Tiburon Triathlon is on Sunday, August 28 (this will be the 25th Annual and coincides with the Department's 75th Anniversary). We want to really promote the involvement of families and local youth in the race. It is a great way to test your fitness, train towards a goal and do something special as a family. Please help us make this race an amazing annual event for Tiburon. The triathlon is a short race format with a 0.5 mile swim starting from the San Francisco Yacht Club, a 9.0 mile bike ride around the Tiburon Peninsula and a 2.0 mile run around the Belvedere Lagoon. You can race either as a relay team or individually. All proceeds from the event go straight back to the community by supporting the Tiburon Volunteer Fire Department.

You can register for the event at:

We will also be offering a free training seminar for those registered, hosted by Ironman World Champion, Ritch Viola, who is also a RUSD Dad. The date and specifics of this seminar are still to be determined.

We encourage all RUSD families to get out there and come race with us! Start training now and have an amazing experience of accomplishing something with your kids.

We are also looking for volunteering help so if you want or need community service for your student, please inquire at tiburontriathlon@gmail.com.

USTA OFFICIALS HOUSING FOR TIBURON CHALLENGER

USTA Officials are looking for housing during their stay in Tiburon during our Wells Fargo Tiburon Challenger. A room and a bathroom is all they need. A number of these wonderful people have officiated on the world's biggest stage - The US Open - and are fascinating to get to know. Many wonderful friendships have been made over the years that we've hosted the Challenger through housing an official, getting to know them and sharing in their amazing stories of being on court with the world's best tennis players.

We are fortunate once again to be able to host this $100,000 USTA ProCircuit Event which will be our 10th year, and ask if you might be able to house an official during their time here with us.

Tournament dates: September 24th - October 2nd

Benefits for housing an official:
  • Name recognition in tournament program and court side banner
  • Preferred seating in 'Friends of Challenger' seating area (seats are limited)
  • 2 VIP passes for finals weekend
  • Invitation for 2 to Sponsors Dinner

Please contact Sue Turley at mshturley@comcast.net if you are interested in housing an official.

$1,500 VIP SKY BOXES AVAILABLE!

These boxes offer upgraded, raised, shaded and catered-seating on the east side of the court. These boxes are behind the bleachers but raised 10 feet to ensure prime viewing.

Please contact Brendan at brendanc@tiburonpc.org to reserve your box today!

JULIO PERALTA TRAINING AT TPC

Julio Peralta, No.51 in the ATP World Doubles Ranking and winner of two ATP Tour events so far this year with partner Horacio Zeballos, has spent the past week training at the TPC with coach Dan Grossman and hitting partner Polo Cowan. It is a real pleasure to have Julio train here at the Club. He's a wonderful guy, amazing tennis player and we wish him and his team all the best in the ATP Tour event in Winston Salem and for the rest of the year.
