TPC MEMBER WEEKLY
August 15, 2016

GENERAL MANAGER REPORT
MORE ON GUEST POLICIES AT TPC

Members are reminded to check in when they enter the Clubhouse and Fitness entrances. Please sign-in your guest(s) when checking in. Failure to register your guest as required will result in a $50.00 charge to your membership account; continued failure to properly check in guests may result in a membership being submitted to the Grievance Committee.

We will be adding a second scanner in the Clubhouse to speed up the check-in process. When checking in, Member Services will see if we have a current photo associated with your account and if not, we will ask you to take a moment for a quick photo. In advance of this procedure, you may also take a photo of yourself or family members and send it to Juliana Moreno at julianai@tiburonpc.org.

MEET THE ARTIST

TPC will be hosting its first "Meet the Artist" event on August 28th from 4 - 6 pm with complimentary appetizers and wine.

The "Meet the Artist" event idea originated with our Café/Social committee and will showcase local artists in our community, offering members an opportunity to share in their love for art and perspective on life. Our first showcase artist, Elizabeth Geisler will have some of her favorite works on display from August 20th through October.

Elizabeth Geisler is a California painter with a background in printmaking, photography, music, and film. Her work hangs in private collections across the United States and shows in galleries throughout the San Francisco Bay area. She began oil painting at the age of six and has continued her artistic exploration ever since.

Learn more about Elizabeth Geisler here.

TPC SHARKS NATIONAL JUNIOR OLYMPICS RESULTS

TPC SHARKS water polo teams best season since it's inception in 2009 came to a successful finish by two (U10 Coed & U12 Boys) of our three teams qualifying and participating at the 2016 Water Polo National Junior Olympics (National Championships).

U10 Coed team (10 years old and younger mixed team)

The U10 Coed team after a very successful 2015 NJO 17th place has had an unbelievable tournament taking 9th place in USA out of 38 participating teams!!

The U10 team finished the tournament strong with a win over Greenwich, CT team in their final game for 9-10th place with a tournament record of 7 wins and 2 losses. The losses came against the eventual 3rd and 5th overall teams.

9th place finish was a result of years of hard work by our young squad playing against teams with decades of water polo history and teams training in superior water polo specific facilities.

All the U10 Coed team players contributed to the team's success and I'm extremely proud of this team as we had to overcome a lot of adversity in preparation for the nationals - three of our players suffered a upper extremity fractures just few months before the NJOs (in not water polo related accidents)- this was just one of several issues these young athletes had to face and come together as a team and fight to qualify and eventually successfully represent the TPC SHARKS Water Polo Club with pride!

WESTERN ZONE ALL STAR MEET

This past weekend Northbay Aquatics Tuna legend and TPC swimmer, Max Matthews competed at the WESTERN ZONE ALL STAR MEET in Kearns, Utah (Salt Lake City Area). Max was a member of the Pacific Team (mostly Northern California) and was in competition with the best swimmers from all of the western United States (Montana, Idaho, SoCal, San Diego, Sierra Nevada, Pacific Northwest, Oregon, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Alaska, Hawaii, Wyoming, and the host Utah). Needless to say, it was a huge honor to be selected to this prestigious meet.

Max brought his A game to the bright lights and ended up making Finals (top 8) in 6 of his 6 events including winning the 50 meter Backstroke and placing 2nd in the 100m backstroke and 100m freestyle. His coaches and teammates couldn't be prouder of Max representing the Angry Tuna with style! Way to go Max!

Fall Swim Team is just around the corner! Email Coach Mike McDonald for details at mike@northbayquatics.org.

Fall Junior Team is filling up! Email Junior Team Head Coach Mike Magruder for details at mike_magruder@yahoo.com.
