GM REPORT

Dear TPC Members,

Yesterday was our Wibits and Poolside BBQ. Thank you to Kirsten Frazer and Jameson Miller for their good work. A good time was had by all as you can see from the photos below.

* Note on your calendars: on Friday, July 22nd we will have an afternoon of Wibits for the kids, followed by an adult-only Wibits evening with Poolside BBQ. More details to come!

SOUTH PROPERTY UPDATE

The TPC House and Grounds Committee met last Tuesday to discuss the South Property Project and Club maintenance. As we shared last week, an independent consultant is reviewing the South Property plans to determine if we will need an EIR. We should know that information in early July. The H&G Committee reviewed a long list of items on the slate and has started executing these items by prioritization. The front of the locker room building has been repainted and new trash containers have been purchased.

A "thank you" to Jacqueline Racich and Maddy Hake who assisted with installation of additional blue recycling bins near the tennis courts, pool decks, and Café patio. In August, we will be resurfacing the upper 6 tennis courts, ball machine court, and walkway. Members comments are always welcomed and your ideas may be sent to us at TPCMaintenance@tiburonpc.org

SUMMER CAMP UPDATE

Jennifer Franco has been doing a terrific job filling in for Juliana Moreno this summer with our camp program. The first two weeks have been busy but we do have space available in July and August. Please contact Jennifer for more information at julianai@tiburonpc.org.

TIBURON CHALLENGER

The USTA Pro Circuit Tiburon Challenger with Title Sponsor Wells Fargo is right around the corner. Qualifying starts the weekend of September 24-25 with play through Sunday October 2. Wimbledon has also begun and it was fun to see the qualifying draw of 128 players trying to play their way in, including many former Challenger players battling for a spot in the main draw.

Till next week,

TPC LADIES 3.0 PLAYOFF - ROUND 1

Firstly, congratulations to our USTA 3.0 ladies team who completed their local season with 7 wins and 3 losses qualifying them for the playoffs. This team has shown incredible team spirit over the past year and it truly shows in the fun they have out on the courts. The great season they have had is in no small part due to the wonderful attitude they bring to the court, embracing the fun factor that this game never ceases to offer.

Thank you to captain Jessica Madani and co- captain Kim Sichel who did a superb job in leading their team through to the playoffs.

POLO COWAN SENIOR (WORLD #1) SHOWS POLO JNR THE WAY

Polo Cowan, TPC teaching pro and New World No.1 ranked doubles player in the 50 + age division traveled to Lima, Peru where he and TPC member Dan Grossman won yet another doubles title two weeks ago. Dan and Polo were competing in a Grade A tournament for the world's top spot. If they lost then their opponents would take the world number 1 ranking and if they won, Polo would take the world's top spot and Dan would be ranked No.3. There was no shortage of pressure in this match.

Dan and Polo were down a set (4-6) and a break of serve in the second set (3-4). They came back to win the second set 6-4 and played a third set tie breaker in lieu of a full set. Going down early 4-0 they dug deep and came back to win it 10-6 securing the title and Polo taking the World Number 1 ranking!

A fantastic effort, congratulations Dan and Polo.

Keeping the winning feeling alive, Polo Jnr won singles and doubles at the Saratoga Open, his first Open tournament win! He won boys u/14 singles and doubles.

Congratulations Polo!
