CAMPBELL JOHNSON'S CORNER Hello all Tiburon Peninsula Club members! I hope everyone is doing well and gearing up for an awesome Easter and Spring tennis season. My rehab from shoulder surgery here in Vail Colorado is going well and I can't wait to get back on the court. As a student of the game, I've been taking notes. Between the Indian Wells ATP event and now the Miami Open ATP, I have been watching a ton of tennis. One of the big stories in the tennis world is the "Youth Movement". This is a group of 18-20 year old professionals that are making their mark on the ATP tour. We are looking forward to a fun evening at the Club and hope you can make it! Miami Open 'Youth Movement' Players:
- Taylor Fritz, Age 18, ATP #81
- Alexander Zverev, Age 18, ATP #52
- Borna Coric, Age 19, ATP # 46
These are some of the top ranked 18-19 year old players in the world. There are quite a few on the rise but these are the ones that have really caught my eye. The reason I bring this up is because the world's top 100 professional men's players have been predominantly in the '25 and up' age group for the past number of years. These young, up and coming professionals are paving the way for a new generation of young athletes that are trying to take over. I wanted to talk about why these teenagers are doing so well and how their behavior can benefit your tennis game! After watching these players compete over the course of a couple weeks, the factor that really stands out is their composure. They really compete point in and point out. You can tell they focus on competing and not worrying about their strokes, how bad they're playing or things they cannot control. They are focused on the things that they can control. We can all learn from this. Whether you're playing up and down the river in your ladies clinic, a league match or simply playing a practice match, concentrating on the things you can control is crucial. Things that you can control include positive body language, effort level, and being a problem solver. Something as simple as this can really help your tennis game, especially during match play. Stay positive and keep enjoying this wonderful game!! Campbell Johnson

CAL V STANFORD: APRIL 3; 11 AM A couple of weeks ago a group of around 20 TPC members gathered at Stanford University to watch Cal vs Stanford Men in what turned out to be a barn burner of a match with Cal taking the victory.
Now it's the Women's turn with Stanford traveling to Cal Berkeley on April 3rd to take on Cal in what is sure to be a performance to remember. TPC new hire, Zsofi Susanyi played for Cal Berkeley graduating last year and is rounding off her position as Assistant Coach for the women's team with the match against Stanford. Many of our TPC junior players have the skills and aspirations of playing collegiate tennis and watching tennis of this level is a priceless experience for them. The match start time is 11am. This sounds like a lot of fun to me, we hope to see you there! Please let me know if you will be attending to give us the chance to organize a possible meet and greet for our TPC juniors players.
