2015 IN REVIEW
First, I would like to thank the TPC membership for their support of the Tennis Program. It has been a successful year with an extraordinary team of tennis pros working tirelessly to serve the needs of the members and ensure that they and their children are exposed to the best tennis coaching and mentorship possible.
TPC League Tennis has seen great success once again seeing 7 teams make playoffs in the USTA 18+ Season. Of these teams it was the Men's 4.5 team captained by Jeff Fisher and co-captained by David von Stroh who made it through to Districts. League highlight of the year is TPC sending another team to a National Championship.
The USTA 4.5 Ladies 40+ Team captained by Cathy Kennedy and co-captained by Becky Miller played an outstanding season coming out on top of their local section, winning the playoffs, Districts and again at Sectionals sending them onto the National Championship round. In October they came up just short of the National title. Nonetheless, an amazing achievement and we're proud to congratulate them as part of the TPC family.

Congratulations to from left: Valerie Behrendt, Claudia Bressie, Cathy Kennedy, Leigh Pagan, Jen Dibble and front row: Anastasia Zaandam, Kim Boyden, Becky Miller and Heather Lobdell. Team members not in picture include Diane Keenley, Amy Rennert, Marylou Tierney, Tricia Weaver Moss and Kim Winterhalter.
TIBURON CHALLENGER
The 2015 Tiburon Challenger was yet another fantastic event with the tournament going from strength to strength. Our new Title Sponsor Wells Fargo was well received and the field of tennis professionals who travel the world following their dreams of competing on the globes biggest stages did not disappoint as they did battle right here in our backyard. Tim Smyzcek triumphed over Denis Kudla in an all American singles finals of epic proportions with the match going the distance in the third and final set in front of a packed stadium court.
Men's Singles - Finals [3] T. Smyczek (USA) d [1] D. Kudla (USA) 16 61 76(7)
Men's Doubles - Finals [1] J. Brunstrom (SWE) / F. Nielsen (DEN) d [4] C. Ball (AUS) / M. Reid (AUS) 76(2) 61
Thank you to all TPC members who generously support this event. We look forward to hosting the 2016 Tiburon Challenger next year.
LOOKING FORWARD TO 2016
The New Year will see the implementation of a new pricing structure for private and private group tennis lessons. There will be three lesson price tiers at $95, $85 and $75. The full lesson rates sheet will be available on the website and come into effect on January 1, 2016.
TPC JUNIOR PROGRAM SHIFTING GEARS
We value each and every one of our junior tennis players and aspire to have them all feel part of the TPC tennis family. With this in mind we are implementing a 'Team Based Philosophy' to our entire junior program. We will be moving away from Levels 1 through 6 and creating Red Ball Team, Orange Ball Team, Green Dot Ball Team, Regular Ball Team and High School Team. Each kid who chooses to sign up will be a member of their team. We will use this system to promote match play, league play and camaraderie amongst our youth.
It is our thought that being part of a team will enhance the experience of our junior tennis players, encourage and nurture their personal growth of being responsible to not only themselves, but also to their team mates and unify the TPC junior tennis community as a whole. We as TPC tennis pros are excited about this movement and look forward to being a part of the progress of all our junior players.
TENNIS DIRECTOR'S THOUGHTS
I am grateful and feel fortunate for the opportunity to work with the team of people that I do. It is also without reservation that I acknowledge the tremendous strength in the relationships that are forged out of these people coming together on a daily basis, doing their best to enhance the lives of those around them. It is from the combined effort of these people, with the same goals in mind, that emerges the results that I believe we all seek. Caring for one another, fairness, responsibility and hard work are essential factors, that if we base our personal and professional strategies upon, are sure to lead us successfully on our individual journeys as well as the TPC Tennis Department, along it's own.
Happy Holidays, and I look forward to working with you all in 2016.
