TIBURON CHALLENGER COMMUNITY DONATIONS
The Tiburon Challenger is pleased to donate $7500 to Reed School Foundation in support of their Physical Education Programs.
Pictured is Jen Riley, Reed School Foundation President accepting the check from TPC Tennis Director, Brendan Curry.
Tiburon Challenger also made a donation of $2500 to the Rotary Foundation last week in support of the community. This professional men's tennis tournament is a wonderful opportunity for everyone in Tiburon and the surrounding Bay Area to watch world-class tennis. We look forward to continuing the relationship with the Tiburon Rotary Foundation next year.

A WORD FROM CAMPBELL JOHNSON
Hello TPC members! I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for welcoming me with open arms into the TPC family. I have truly enjoyed being a part of this Club and look forward to the good times ahead. I have met tons of wonderful families and I know I haven't even met the half of them. I would also like to take this time to introduce my goals as the Head of Junior Development here at TPC.
After being here for a couple months I have seen a wide variety of talented hard working tennis players that show much promise for our program which makes my job very exciting. On behalf of all Tennis Professionals at TPC, it is our goal to bring awareness to the sport and give our juniors every opportunity to play at any level they would like. It is a pleasure to work alongside such passionate coaches. One of the great tools we have here at TPC that a lot of other clubs don't have the opportunity to use is the ball progression. The ball progression is a great way for our juniors to develop racquet control, feel, hand eye coordination, and much more. The levels put in place are to make sure our juniors are developing at just the right speed so we as coaches don't miss anything technical that could disrupt their development in the future. Here are some very basic guidelines I would like to introduce: Level 1: (red ball) Introduction to the game, learning court boundaries, learning how to hit the ball in a stagnant position. Developing balance, hand eye coordination. Ball Tracking. Left hand right hand coordination (catching and throwing). Level 2: (red ball) Introducing the movement and footwork, hitting and moving, as well as learning all the different shots... (Serve, volley, groundstrokes, approach shot...etc.) Level 3: (orange ball) Full loop strokes with correct grips (continental on the volley and serve) players must be able to play a match and keep score at a reasonable pace. Level 4: (green dot) Have to be able to hit and know all the different stances (open stance, close stance, semi open stance...etc.) also introducing patterns of play with a huge focus on consistency Level 5: (Yellow ball) We would like our level 5's to start taking tennis more seriously and playing more than once or twice a week. Attending the round robins/tournament play. Also establishing tennis identity and weapons. Level 6: (Yellow ball)Tennis is their main sport, An active member on their high school team JV or Varsity, or aspiring to play on their high school team or attending weekend tournaments. Ranked players...etc. These are just some very basic guidelines we wanted to share with the members and would love your support as we move forward. One of my main priorities is to create more opportunities for our juniors to compete against each other and help push one another in a fun atmosphere. We are very fortunate because we have the ability to do so right here at TPC. I want to say thank you to everyone who attended the Spooky Halloween round robin. We had 13 kids there and everyone played some awesome tennis. We want these events to be even bigger and really build a community for our juniors. Coming up next we have our first Winter Classic Junior Championship on the 5th and 6th of December. This is going to be a wonderful event that we want all of our TPC juniors to be a part of. RSVP to my email before December 1st! To wrap things up, I would just like to say again how much I have enjoyed being a part of this beautiful club and I truly believe the future is bright for our juniors here at TPC!
