GENERAL MANAGER REPORT
The Wells Fargo Bank Tiburon USTA $100,000 Challenger started play with qualifying matches over the weekend. Final qualifying matches will be played Monday morning with main draw matches starting Monday afternoon.
One of the highest ranking and entertaining players in the Challenger this year is Dustin Brown #87 from Germany. Two weekends ago, Brown was playing Davis Cup for Germany against the Dominican Republic. Last Thursday, Brown reached the second round of the ATP 250 event in Metz, France where he lost to Stan Warwrinka in a third set tie breaker. Saturday afternoon, he arrived at the TPC to work out before his first round match this week! Earlier this Summer, he defeated Rafael Nadal in the second round at Wimbledon!
L-R: Marek Michalicka, Dustin Brown, Mikelynn Leverte, Sue Turley, and Mary Lou Tierney.
There was plenty of buzz around the Club this weekend. Tennis pros Brendan Curry, Campbell Johnson, and Josh Levison worked with the USTA Norcal to host a terrific junior clinic on Saturday morning.
With a smaller than normal draw in the qualifying matches, some local players managed to receive a wild card! Last evening, Brendan and Campbell hosted the popular Challenger Pro Am. Dan Grossman and Julio Peralta were the winners in the ten team field over Mike Seifer and Ariel Behat.
Challenger Reminders:
- The stadium removal will take place October 6 and 7 (Tuesday and Wednesday).
- Court availability will be difficult during the Challenger so please check in with the Front Desk for availability. Three courts should be available for member play.
- Parking may be difficult during the Challenger so please car pool whenever possible. Also, the Valet lot this year will be our overflow lot located in the Southwest corner of the club. Signs for Valet parking will be posted as you enter the club off of Mar West Street.
TPC HOUSE AND GROUNDS
During the past couple of weeks the Club worked very hard to reupholster the cushions in the Café with fabric that is stronger and more durable. Please help us keep our furniture clean by eating at the dining tables, watching your kids when they eat, and generally helping us keep the TPC clean and tidy. Thank you.
Till next week,
Jerry Pang General Manager
