GENERAL MANAGER REPORT
We have our Labor Day celebration on Monday, September 7 and each department has something special planned for the day (the flyer below shows just some of the fun stuff we've got in store)! I have to hand it to Aquatics Coordinator Kirsten Frazer who is trying to organize an adult pick-up water polo game!
The Wells Fargo Bank Tiburon USTA $100,000 Challenger is 34 days away! Qualifying starts on Saturday, September 26, and main draw starts Monday, September 28. The U.S. Open is late this year starting on August 31, with the finals on September 13. Most of the Challenger players will be in the main and qualifying draws for the Open.
From a player's perspective, they have a choice of 5 tournaments for the week of September 28: there are 3 Challenger tournaments - one in Orleans, France, one in Porto Alegre, Brazil, and our own in Tiburon; and there are 2 ATP 250 events - one in Kuala Lampur, Malaysia and the other in Shenzen, China.
We will know who has committed to our event three weeks in advance. There is a $50,000 Challenger in Columbus, Ohio the week prior to our event so I would imagine many will come to California for the three week swing in Tiburon, Sacramento, and Fairfield. There are only six $100,000 Challengers in the United States, and thanks to our sponsors and members, we are fortunate to host one.
We are still seeking housing for officials during the tournament. Please contact Kim Logie at kimlogie2000@yahoo.com for more information.
Till next week,
Jerry Pang General Manager
