On Tuesday, June 24th, Renaissance graduated its 16th class of seniors! From our first graduating class of 16 students in 1999, to the 45 graduates in the CLASS OF 2014, we are proud to have helped hundreds of NYC kids receive a great education and steer them towards a career or further education. This year, 96% of our graduates are heading off to college. Read on to find out where they are going and to get updates on some of this year's graduation class highlights, for both our seniors and our 8th graders who are "Stepping Up" into high school!

High School Graduation, June 24, 2014
|
Renaissance's Class of 2014 held their graduation on Tuesday, June 24th, in the Louis Armstrong Middle School Auditorium at 12:30 PM.
The mistress and master of ceremony were Sandra Fritz and Jose Mane. Ernest Logan of the Council of School Administrators, pictured above right with Principal Stacey Gauthier, gave a stirring keynote address.

The student speeches were heart-felt in their promises to keep the memories of Renaissance student life alive through friendships that will endure beyond high school and into a future that includes college, jobs, and the coming summer to prepare for the next step forward. Tiffany Manley was given the TRCS Spirit Award; an award that is chosen by the HS faculty to the senior who most embodies the TRCS Spirit, with caring, courage and passion.
The TRCS Jazz Band, led by Everett Boyd, performed two numbers, and the seniors themselves performed a medley of Kanye West songs--but the highlight of the ceremony was, of course, the Class of 2014 slide-show of photos and video from baby-hood to graduates, assembled by Gabriela Jimenez and Leonardo Borja.
Our students will be attending a wide variety of schools and we want to shout out our National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society members, wearing the gold stoles. Tenzin Dechin will be attending Cornell University with a Gates Millenium Scholarship, and Rulaiha Taylor will be leaving for Dickinson College on a Posse Scholarship.
