Beale Air Force Base Builds Mission Control Center
Enhancing Intelligence, Surveillance an Reconnaissance
Beale Air Force Base published a request for construction bids and held site selection visits in May, 2015 for the construction of a projected $100 - 250 million mission control center. The 83,000 square foot facility will be designed for communication equipment, computer workstations, warehouse, production, and staff office space, and will be used by crews involved in worldwide intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions. Construction is scheduled for completion by August, 2017. The new mission control building will be constructed adjacent to a comparably sized building awarded and contracted to Swinerton Builders in August, 2014. Yuba County Improves Permitting Software System
Online Permitting Combines GIS Reporting Capabilities
Yuba County is completing two significant upgrades to its business and residential permitting software system. One improvement is focused on e-services and will enable county staff to begin online permitting as well as improve its online presence for other functions like scheduling inspections.
A secondary upgrade is a Geographic Information System (GIS) module that will significantly enhance the geographic overlay software system with the Trakit permitting data which will make the system more usable and the generated permit reports easier to understand.

This Day in Yuba County History. . .
First Marysville Post Office Established
On this date 165 years ago (July 28, 1850), the first post office is approved in Marysville with James Cushing employed as its first postmaster. He opened it on this date in his real estate office. Since 1934 the post office has been at its current location at 407 C Street, it was subsequently recognized on the national historical registry as a landmark building January 11, 1985.
How much was postage in 1850? Postal rates in that year were 5¢ and 10¢. Millard Fillmore had the rates reduced and the result was a range of costs ranging from 1¢ to 12¢. When Zachary Taylor was nominated for President, Millard Fillmore was nominated by Henry Clay for Vice President. Fillmore became the thirteenth President when Zachary Taylor died on July 9, 1850.
