Director, Paul Sabu Rogers and jazz icon, Bennie Maupin launches a fundraising campaign for their feature documentary film, Jazz In The Rainforest. This documentary was filmed in Manaus, Brazil in 2013 and completed in May of this year. It has screened at the Capital City Black Film Festival in Austin, Texas, where it received 2nd place honors for the best documentary.
The Rogers-Maupin collaboration was funded out of pocket, but they're now seeking finishing and promotion funds thru a 40 day crowd-funding campaign utilizing the popular platform, Indiegogo.
The filmmakers hope that this campaign will provide the financial kick-start needed to move their project toward wider distribution and exposure.

Dwight Trible, Vocalist Many jazz musicians will tell you that they prefer not to work with singers, because most jazz singers lack the ability
DwightTribleHome.jpg to improvise, have no understanding of musicianship, nor any of the other traits associated with making jazz music - one of the most interesting and exciting musical genres today.

  Dwight Trible

Dwight Trible is a singer who combines the best of vocal virtuosity with musicianship and improvisational skills to the delight of audiences and musicians alike. In addition to performing with his own group, the Dwight Trible Ensemble, Dwight is the vocalist with the Pharaoh Sanders Quartet and is also the vocal director for the Horace Tapscott Pan Afrikan Peoples'

Bennie Maupin (bs clar, ten sax), Vidal Montgomery (bs), Carl Orr (gtr), Rod Youngs (drs).

Top reedsman brings a superb quartet to Ronnie's for 1 night only ...Bennie Maupin is best-known for his association with Herbie Hancock and his atmospheric bass clarinet playing on Miles Davis' classic Bitches Brew album.  His highly personal bass clarinet sound helped define such classic jazz recordings as Miles Davis'Bitches Brew, Jack Johnson, Big Fun and On the Corner, as well as recordings by Herbie Hancock's Mwandishi band, and the Headhunters.

"POSSIBILITIES"  During more than a half-century in the public eye, Herbie Hancock has been acclaimed as a jazz pianist and composer and an explorer of new musical forms. He rose to fame in the 1960s as a member of trumpeter Miles Davis's quintet, then became a top-selling headliner with his jazz-fusion group Headhunters in the 1970s and as a solo performer a decade later. He has won 14 Grammy Awards, an Oscar and the Kennedy Center Honors and is the chairman of the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz and a UNESCO goodwill ambassador. Now 74, he describes his personal journey in a new autobiography,

C.W. Gray

Charles has a myriad of experience in the Entertainment Business. Born into a "Hollywood Showbiz Family" he started off at the early age of (7) singing impromptu with his father's vocal group, "The Ink Spots". With providence, he formed his own band "Songbird" and shortly thereafter acquired a record contract, with GRT, which took him from L.A. to Canada. After several years of touring, recording and "Rockin de House", Charles became interested in the closeness and intimacy of the Theater.      IMDB  See More

The story
of Doris Miller has been glamorized in motion pictures, but few know the real story of the Black cook who became a hero during the attack on Pearl Harbor. Doris "Dorie" Miller was born on October 12, 1919 in Waco, Texas, the son of Connery  and Henrietta Miller.
