Greetings!
We are seeking public comments about whether or not to put a levy lift on the November ballot this year. As many of you are aware, the Sheriff has been advocating for more money for his budget for years now.
When the economy dropped out, his department saw significant cuts that have never recovered. He contends it leaves him without the appropriate number of deputies to provide officer and public safety. In order for him to restore his department to 2008 levels, he needs more money than we could possible muster from any number of departments in the county.
True, we have never looked into what could be dropped from our list of non-mandated, non-essential programs but that does not make the Sheriff's needs any less.
