Grow Smart RI Award 2016
Tiverton Public Library
For all who worked so hard to make this wonderful green library happen for all of Tiverton, you were carried in our hearts as we accepted this award. We did it together! Thank you!
Ann Grealish Rust, Director, Sally Black, School Committee, Kathy Ryan, Building Committee, Joan Chabot, Tiverton Town Council

Thanks to Don Wilbur and Jerry O'Brien who died while serving on the building committee, all those helped and who wore out shoes canvassing prior to the referendum, our wonderful merchants, our supportive Councils, staffs, and administrators, our wonderful legislators, penny drive donors, the Rhode Island Foundation who believed in the project first, The Rhode Island Office of State Library Services, Library Journal which has followed the project since it was a field of rocks and trees, the Library Green Building Institute, who featured the Project when we tried to find a way to mitigate town heat and utility costs rising 40% annually, Channel 18, WADK, Marcia Pobzeznik/Newport Daily News, Tom Dalglish/Sakonnet Times, Derek Vital/Kevin O'Connor/Michael Gagne/Fall River Herald News, Peter Lord/Providence Journal who died before he could write of the environmental impact, the RI LIbrary Report journalists, who told the story, all the wonderful library community, the Schools, the children who drew their dreams of a new library, those who asked enthusiastically every time they received Meals on Wheels, the Garden Club, the Historical Society, Greater Tiverton Community Chorus, all those who created and contributed to fundraisers--we covered 3/4 of the cost--, our patient families. And of course, the architects of Union Studios and contractors at Behan Brothers who set the vision--of a community who have supported library service in Tiverton since 1820-- in stone.
We did, and will do this, together.
What a wonderful cap on a busy first year!

A Note of Thanks from the
Friends of Tiverton Libraries

Thank you to all who donated books, volunteered time sorting, moved thousands of books from Essex to the library, baked, and supported the annual book sale by attending, purchasing books, baked goods and raffle tickets.  Thank you to the Lions Club for providing lunch, to area businesses, restaurants and individuals for donations to our Cook's Night Out raffle, Coastal Roasters for providing coffee, and to those who volunteered during the event, helped with set up and cleaned up. Thanks  especially to our energetic and willing teens,  and to the library director and staff for your constant help and support of our efforts.  This has truly been a community effort.  The financial support of Tiverton Public Library's Summer Reading Program for children and teens, and programming for adults, is due to your efforts and contributions.  We thank each and every one of you.
