GMO OMG is an educational but entertaining documentary filmed by Jeffrey Siefert.  Today in the US, by the simple act of feeding ourselves, we are unwittingly participating in the largest experiment ever conducted on human beings.  Each of us unknowingly consumes genetically engineered food on a daily basis.  The risks and effects to our health and the environment are largely unknown.  GMO OMG tells the story of a father's discovery of GMOs in relationship to his 3 young children and the world around him.  Q & A afterwards with Liz Guardia, grassroots organizer for Rhode Islanders for GMO Labeling.  Watch the trailer for this award-winning film:

Come boss us around!  We want to hear your opinions about your library.  Give us ideas for events,  new books, and new movies - all while eating pizza and earning volunteer hours.  Please sign up in advance for this program.

Come check out our awesome PlayStation 4 and collection of board games!  We also have our own Minecraft server.  Show off your skills and learn some new ones! 

Anime and Manga Club

Love manga and anime?  Join our club!  We meet monthly to watch new and classic anime episodes, do crafts, and try our tasty Japanese snacks!  This month we'll be making cat ears and perler bead ornaments out of our favorite characters!

Using light and various objects you will create shadows on a piece of paper, then trace and color the shadows to create your masterpiece!


Tuesday, February 16th, 10am-noon.  Math Games
Make your own abacus and learn how to use it. Multiple math games will be set up so you can use your abacus. Both programs are drop-in programs (no registration required). All materials will be supplied. Open to all children up to age 11.

Our Annual Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, February 9th at 6:30pm in the community room.  PowerPoint presentation of the past year's accomplishments, elections, and presentation of "Golden Sneaker" awards will be followed by light refreshments.  All are welcome to attend.

Union Library News
Union Public Library Association gratefully acknowledges the generous donors who have made gifts in memory of Lucinda Peckham and Amelia Camara.  Both women were long-time patrons and active supporters of the Union Public Library.  We recognize them for their service and commitment to the Union Public Library and have selected and inscribed these titles in their memory:  The Nightingale by Kristen Hannah, Beyond Words:  What Animals Think and Feel by Carl Satina, American Ghost by Hannah Nordhaus, All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr, Dead Wake:  The Last Crossing of the Lusitania by Erik Larson, and Aboard the Fabre Line to Providence by William J. Jennings and Patrick T. Conley. 
Tiverton Library Foundation Elects New Officers

Goals include raising funds for such items as additional technology, a system to hang artwork, 3 ceramic murals by Mika Seeger and Peter Geisser, and repaying the Endowment that was used to pay construction bills while awaiting the remaining pledge payments.
