CHILDREN'S EVENTS  
Small tales, tall tales and fall tales for children 8 months-5 years happen at Tiverton Public Library every week.  Our Monday Preschool Storytime is currently full with a wait list and meets 10:30-11:15 am for ages 3-5, Dec. 7, 14 and 21. Our Wednesday Toddler Storytime is also full with a wait list and meets 10:30-11:15 am, Dec. 2, 9, 16 and 23, for ages 18-36 months.  Openings remain in our Baby/Toddler Storytime that meets every other Friday 10:30-11:00 am, Dec. 4 and Dec. 18 for ages 8-18 months.  Our next in-person storytime registration week will be held Jan. 4-9, 2016.  Thank you for making early literacy via storytimes an important part of your children's lives!  For more information e-mail jlinhares@tivertonlibrary.org. 
 
LEGO SATURDAYS continue in our Children's Activity Room Dec. 12th from 10:30-11:45 am for children ages 5-10.  Registration began Sept. 24 and is limited to 20.  Separate registration for each Lego Saturday.  Dec. 12 is our Holiday Challenge.  Create a Lego holiday scene, or use Legos (in red, green, blue & white, or whatever your holiday colors are) to create holiday mosaics, Santas, holiday trees, candy canes, ornaments, or something that makes you think "HOLIDAY"!  Take the challenge of the week and be inspired to build constructions using your imagination. 
*Children ages 1-4 may build with Megabloks with parent/caregiver present in the Activity Room. 
 
November 30th Children's NaNoWriMo word counts are in!  Congratulations to our November 2015 novel writers.  Many thanks to our teacher/instructor Kim Sutherland for superb motivation and guidance.

ART AND SCIENCE EXPLORATION
Drop in to the library for an art or science project during Christmas vacation.  There will be a different art or science project each day between 10:00AM and 12:00 Noon on Dec. 23, 24, 28, 29, 30 and 31.  All children are welcome with a parent/guardian.  More details will be available at the library and on the library web-site by mid-December.  Sign up is not required, just drop in!  If you can't make the program time, stop in anytime the library is open to explore science exhibits on your own that will be set up in the children's activity room. 
TEEN EVENTS FOR DECEMBER

Cookie Decorating and Movie Night, Wed., Dec. 9th, 6-8pm. 
We will be watching "The Nightmare Before Christmas" and decorating sugar coookies!
Art Lab for Teens, Thur., Dec.10th, 6-7:30pm.  Make gifts for your friends and family!  We will be making snow globes and ornaments.  
   
Wednesday, Dec. 16th, Tiverton Teen Advisory Board, 6-7pm.

 

Thursday, Dec. 17th, Gaming Club from 3-5pm.  Come play our PS4 or wide selection of board games!  Show us your skills.   
 
Tuesday, Dec. 22nd, Anime and Manga Club from 3-5pm.

HOLIDAY HOURS
Please note the following changes to the Tiverton Public Library schedule:
Friday, Dec. 18th, 3:00PM, Library closing for staff appreciation event.
The library will also close on Dec. 24th at 3:00PM and reopen at 10:00AM on Dec. 26th, and will close at 3:00PM on Dec. 31st and reopen at 10:00AM on Jan. 2nd.

Friends of Tiverton Libraries Annual Membership Drive

December marks the beginning of our annual drive.  Membership dues are tax deductible. Your membership offers excellent opportunities to develop and share skills and to engage with other library supporters.  An added bonus is early bird entry to the Annual Book Sale, Etc. each year.  Current members will receive renewal forms by mail, but anyone wishing to join or renew their membership can do so in person at the library or online at www.tivertonlibrary.org
Dues for 2016 are $10 for individuals, $15 for families, $25 for patrons and $50, benefactors.  Thanks for supporting the Friends!

CHILDREN'S FAIRY GARDEN PROGRAM 
Dec. 29th, 6:00-8:00PM
The new Tiverton Public Library has a special area outside for children to create fairy gardens, and our first program will be held in the children's activity room during Christmas vacation.  Sign up is required and will begin Dec. 15th.  The children will be creating miniature ladders, tables, chairs, swingsets, etc. that will all be placed in the fairy garden in the spring.  Come help us create a beautiful garden for all to enjoy!
