Dedication Day - A Perfect Celebration

Hundreds of people gathered outside the new Tiverton Public Library to celebrate the dedication of our  new building, and afterwards were welcomed inside.  Children, teens and adults enjoyed seeing the completed library, signed up for library cards, checked out books, all while saying the same word over and over again, "Wow!".  A reception provided by Friends of Tiverton Libraries was enjoyed by all in the large community room. Click here and here for more information on the Dedication events.

Kay Hughes and Nancy Chace extend their thanks to all the Friends who contributed refreshments to the Dedication.  It was a wonderful celebration in our new library!

Common Cents Penny Drive
Comes to an End

The Friends' Common Cents Penny Drive has been completed.  This fundraiser was established as an opportunity for all members of the community to participate in the building of a dream.  At the very moment that a toddler or a teenager, a senior or a supporter of any means added a penny to the Common Cents jar, he or she joined the Friends in traveling the 4-mile journey from Highland Road to Bliss Four Corners.  In honor of the efforts of all these individuals, the Friends of Tiverton Libraries presented a check for $1000.00 to the library.  Please note that we are continuing to collect Clements Market and Lees Market receipts to raise funds for Museum Passes and programs.  Thanks to all for your support.
After the Dedication, Brenda Nagle and Kerry Kennedy, co-chairs of the "Downton Comes to Tiverton" Gala in May, presented a check for the proceeds of $16,000 to Library Director Ann Grealish Rust .  The 300 participants had a wonderful time while helping to support the new Library.  The Tiverton Library Foundation is very grateful to the Co-Chairs and the Committee, the 50 Silent Auction donors, Compton Catering & Clambakes, Treasury Wine Estates, Colonial Beer in North Dartmouth, Granny Squibb Iced Tea, Pranzi Catering in Providence, Subway in Fall River, All Friends Catering in Westport, Tom's Market, Dunkin Donuts, Leo's Greenhouse, and Paul's House of Flowers.  The Tiverton H.S. Culinary Arts students and teacher Cathy Marshall prepared the desserts with supplies funded by two anonymous donors, and dressed in tuxes and chefs' coats to serve and work in the kitchen. The Tiverton After School Arts students directed by Gloria Crist dressed in period costumes designed by Celeste Ferendo of Seams by Celeste to welcome guests and serve appetizers.  Amb. Middendorf's antique cars were on display, and the Million Pound Sterling Jazz Quartet played the night away.
