Tiverton Library Trustees News

The Town Council appoints the Library Board of Trustees. The volunteer board consists of seven members who meet monthly on the first Wednesday of each month. Each board member serves a three year term. The Board is responsible for hiring the Director, setting policies, advocating for full services and securing operating funds.

This is an exciting time to become involved with a new library building set to open in the spring providing new opportunities for library services to the community.

COMMUNITY CONNECTION

The work on the exterior of the building is now complete except for the doors that will be installed during the second week of December.

In addition, the terraces, driveways, site lighting, and entrance ramps are in place, and some of the shrubs and trees have been planted. Interior work has progressed in parallel, and the drywall installation will also be completed during early December. With the building closed up and heating in place, interior finish work can go on in spite of winter weather.

For the construction folks: click Behan Brothers and for a video, click Joe Arruda Construction. Thanks to both, and to the architects at Union Studios, who gave flesh to a dream!

"As a practical matter, everything we can do to alleviate the need for constructing additional energy transmission assets is a worthwhile step to stabilize the overall cost of living for our residents over the long term," Town Administrator, Matt Wojcik said.

Technology:

As we prepare to move to the new library, new technology is being added.
One of the new systems is called PC Reservation.
This software allows patrons to reserve time on the computer, that way if it's a busy day, a computer will be there ready for you when you request it.  This system is very easy to use and our staff is always here to assist you with any questions.
Just bring your library card with you and we will be happy to show you how it works!

Also new: self-check your items, search the catalog, and reserve books and museum passes with your mobile device.
Suggestions are ALWAYS welcome!
