Meet the Teaching Artists Who Run Trinity's Education Department on Jan 22nd

Love to act?  Have a flair for the dramatic?  Just want to learn more about theater?  Come to the Tiverton Essex Library on Thursday, Jan. 22 from 6-8 to hear all about what it takes to be an actor from the artists that run the Trinity Repertory Company's Education Department.  Three of Trinity Rep's Teaching Artists will be visiting the library to tell teens and parents what it is like to work and live as an actor and tell you about their excellent programs.

The Next Library and the People Who Will Use It

At the 2014 AzLA/MPLA Annual Conference, Lee Rainie presented the latest findings from the Pew Research Center's library research and discussed the implications of that research for the future of libraries in three specific ways: 

  • The library as a place, 
  • the library as a connector of people,
  •  and the library as a platform for getting patrons the information and the contacts they seek.

Rhode Island's One Book, One State community-read program is kicking off its 13th year. 
Reading Across Rhode Island kicks off
its 13th year Jan. 31 with a panel discussion at 2 p.m. at Salve Regina University in Newport. The opener also gives book-group leaders and others an introduction to the book, along with resources and materials to develop future discussions. 

The annual Author Breakfast, featuring Miller as keynote speaker, is May 16 at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet in Cranston. Registration forms for the breakfast will be on the Center for the Book's website (ribook.org) in mid-February.
