Autumn Players Readers Theatre
Sunday, August 28,
 2:30 p.m.
Reuter Center
Manheimer Room

"The Circle," written by Somerset Maugham in 1921, in this production directed by Elliot Weiner, is a witty drama that brings both period charm as well as ageless questions about the human condition.

The Autumn Players is a troupe of seasoned actors dedicated to taking the theatre experience into the community. Readings of great literature by experienced performers can spark deep understanding and kindle lasting interest.  As words jump from the page with conviction and emotion, stories come to life. Come to the Reuter Center on Sundays at 2:30 p.m. to enjoy these unique performances.

Tickets $6 at the door.

Storytelling Event:
Go, Granny D!
Sunday, September 11, 2016, 2:30 p.m.
(please note new later start time)

Never underestimate grannies.  At age 90 Doris "Granny D" Haddock blazed a 3200-mile trail across the U.S.  for campaign finance reform, precipitating the passage of the McCain-Feingold Act. She continued her bipartisan  efforts in countrywide voter registration drives, issuing her final challenge in 2010 at age 100: "Democracy is a running game. You huddle and you go back in. You keep going."

Off-Broadway actress Barbara Bates Smith highlights the story of this crusader whose steel determination took the world by surprise and elevated her to national fame. Smith summons the granny with the straw hat proclaiming across the U.S. "Corporations are not people! Democracy is!"

This performance event is free and open to the public.
