Hearing Loss Association Meeting
"Can You Hear Me Now?":
Legal Issues Faced by Those with Hearing Loss, Court Cases, and Being an Advocate for Positive Change in our Community
Holly Stiles
Lead Attorney, Community Access Team,
Disability Rights NC
Saturday, August 20, 10:30 a.m.
Care Partners, Seymour Auditorium
68 Sweeten Creek Road, Asheville
Have you ever wondered about the legal rights of hearing impaired people? To what extent can they expect to be enabled to participate in normal interactions? Does the college or workplace have to accommodate their needs? If you have hearing loss or care for someone who does, this is your chance to find out.
OLLI has hearing loops in two rooms to enable those with t-coils in their hearing aids (and devices are available through the office for those who don't) to hear well. How far is this typical for venues in our area? What does your church offer? Your library? What does the law say?
