Shuttle Information
If you want to avoid the hassle of circling or waiting, why not park your car at 118 W. T. Weaver Blvd. (the former MAHEC building), right across from campus, and take a UNC Asheville shuttle to the Reuter Center? The university operates a red and a blue shuttle line (click here to view the Red and Blue shuttle routes); each shuttle takes about 12 minutes to make its entire circuit. You may park at the W. T. Weaver lot, board the shuttle, let the driver know you want to go to the Reuter Center, and enjoy the ride. When you are finished with your classes, stop in the OLLI office and ask a staff member to contact the UNC Asheville police. They will route a shuttle to take you back to your car.

Dear OLLI Members,
Thank you all for making our first week of classes so successful. It was gratifying to hear so many of you say you were happy to be "back in school." We appreciate those of you who gave the shuttle a try. We know there were a couple of problems early in the week, but we think the system is working well now and hope that you will continue to use this alternative to getting to class on time. Many thanks to Chief Eric Boyce and our colleagues in the Campus Police and public safety for making this service available and for everything they do to make our campus a safe place.
We want to call attention to the many activities taking place this week in addition to our great classes and Special Interest Groups (SIGs). We hope you will take advantage of the opportunity to find out more about the convergence of mathematics and poetry from UNC Asheville professor Dr. Patrick Bahls on Tuesday, September 29, 4:30 pm. This lecture is part of the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) lecture series organized by OLLI member Howard Jaslow.
On Wednesday, September 30, 7 pm, Dr. Jay Jacoby, popular College for Seniors instructor, will examine aesthetic liberties in biblical illustrations in a lecture sponsored by OLLI and the Center for Jewish Studies.
We are excited to co-sponsor another "Intergenerational Conversation on Racial Justice," moderated by Michael Carter and sponsored by the OLLI Inclusion Committee, Elders Fierce for Justice, and the YWCA. Join us this Thursday, October 1, 6:30 pm at the YWCA on French Broad Avenue.
Finally, on Friday, October 2, you can hear a lecture on chronic pain management, part of our Fab Friday lecture at 11:30 am and stick around to learn more about the upcoming season of NC Stage, with Charlie Flynn-McIver at 1:30 pm.
All of these learning opportunities are possible because so many of you give your time and talent to make our programs possible. We appreciate the passion each of you brings to your creative retirement,
Catherine Frank
Executive Director
