Dear OLLI Members,
We hope that you remembered to "spring forward" by setting your clocks ahead one hour as we enter another season of daylight savings time. We are all probably looking for any sign of a positive change in the season and looking forward to the joys of spring in Western North Carolina.

We will be sending out an email tomorrow about Spring 2015 schedules and reminding you of the add/drop process, which will be operated on a first-come, first served basis as always. The random registration process this term was a response to the threat of bad weather.  We will report what we felt we learned from the process and how it will affect our choices moving forward.

We appreciate the passion each of you brings to your participation in our community,
Catherine Frank
Executive Director

World Affairs Council Meeting
"Sectarianism in the Middle East"
by David Hudleson of National Security
Tuesday, March 10,  7:30 pm

Many of the current conflicts in the Middle East have been attributed to sectarianism, a politicization of ethnic and religious identity. From the Charlie Hebdo tragedy in Paris to the crisis in Iraq and Syria to the tension between Iran and Saudi Arabia, the struggle between Sunni and Shi'i groups for dominance is tearing apart the region and shows no signs of abating. But for all the religious discourse permeating the conflict,  its roots are largely political, not religious. How does sectarianism fit into a larger narrative of the Middle East? How have governments manipulated sectarian differences? And finally, what is the US doing about it?
Free admission for WAC members and students; $10 general public. For more details about programs,
