Summer just calls for barbecue, friends and fun! Join your OLLI friends - and meet some new ones - at our annual OLLI summer barbecue Wednesday, July 16, 4:30 - 6:30 pm in the atrium at the Reuter Center. Come be a part of the festivities. Please be sure to mark your calendars for the Summer Member Roundup Barbecue. This year we are experimenting with an RSVP to see if we can better gauge the amount of food we will need. We encourage new and longtime members of OLLI to join us. This is a great way to meet with friends old and new and to enjoy the unique fellowship of our community.

Design and Sew a Stylish Purse Workshop Dates: July 19, 2014 Times: 9:30 am - 4:30 pm
Instructor: Nancy Rosenberg
Fee: $70/person Materials Fee: $3 for pattern and some materials, collected by instructor at the workshop. A detailed supply list will be sent to students prior to the workshop. Open to the public; OLLI membership is not required to register.
Have fun designing and sewing your own fashionable small purse. In this workshop you will learn basic techniques for designing, foundation piecing (quilting), using stabilizers, and creating pockets, gussets, straps, and linings. With these techniques the possibilities are endless! See sample pictures and more information at www.nancysfiberart.weebly.com. Once you have made one you'll want to make more!  Participants must have sewing experience and bring their own sewing machine and supplies. Nancy Rosenberg (nancy@vectorr.com) has been sewing since childhood and quilting for over twenty-five years. She has won awards for her original design quilts at shows in New England and is known for sharing her love of creating with fabric.

 Do you have a hard time hearing on the phone? You may be interested in a CaptionCall phone. This phone helps people with hearing loss to use the phone with confidence with friends and family. It uses a regular phone line combined with high-speed internet to caption the voice of the person on the other end of the line so you can read along as they speak, similar to closed captioning on your television.
