Summer Registration
from the desk of Ann Cadle
By the end of business on Thursday, May 22, 523 College for Seniors registrations were processed. Of that number, 38 were received in the mail on/before May 20, 21 were received on May 21, and 11 were received on May 22.
What does all this mean?
428 registrations were walked in the door on Tuesday, May 20. We were through with the main bulk of registrants by 8:20 am. We started at 7:30 am, not having all of registrars in place. Within 45 minutes, we had processed about 350 people.
Not bad for our merry band of bandits.

Dear OLLI Members,
Please remember that OLLI and the Reuter Center will be closed on Monday, May 26, to observe the Memorial Day holiday.
While we are taking Monday off, we have been hard at week this weekend hosting the 23rd Annual Creative Retirement Exploration Weekend. Please take a moment to read below the names of all the wonderful volunteers who give their time and talent to make the weekend a success. Special thanks to Laurel Jernigan for her hard work as program director bringing all of the pieces of the puzzle together, and to Fred and Linda Cardina who have worked tirelessly over the course of the past three years to improve the program and keep it fresh and informative. Special thanks to our presenters, Fred Cardina, Dave Castel, Patrick Chitwood, Tanya Fletcher, Ellen Garrison, Larry Griswold, Greg Walker, and Patrick Weaver, to our facilitators Anne Bonnyman, Bob Dunn, Barbara and Larry Griswold, Nick Jordan, Ken Macfarlane, Sarah and Terry Reincke, and Anne Sayers. We felt that this was one of our most successful weekends in the past few years and it is because of the efforts of many people pulling together. If you know someone who is considering relocation in retirement, encourage them to learn more by investigating our website.
Many thanks to various ways that all of you contribute to the longevity and success of our program for creative and enthusiastic retirement and the ways that you model and promote thriving in life's second half.
With gratitude, Catherine Frank Executive Director

If you're curious about silent films, take a course from Chip Kaufmann, the man in the red cap.
By John Hammond John Jacob "Chip" Kaufmann III was first exposed to the world of silent films back in 1962 at the young age of ten; he attended a showing a of Harold Lloyd's World of Comedy and witnessed our hapless hero hanging precariously in the air from the hands of a huge clock. This scene was copied many times throughout film history, most notably by Steven Spielberg in Back To The Future, which featured another Lloyd, Christopher, hanging by a cable atop a clock tower while attempting to harness a lightning bolt to transport Marty back to his future.
