Learn more about the hearing loop
The key to the
new hearing loop technology
now installed in Room 102 is a "T-coil" (or telecoil). This tiny element- -found in most hearing aids and all cochlear implants--picks up a signal that brings the presenter's voice straight from a microphone to you. Check now to ensure that you have a telecoil (T-coil) in your hearing aid. Talk to your audiologist, if necessary, and be ready to access this great technology! Hearing loops are becoming the new standard in America for enhanced hearing in auditoria, houses of worship, and assembly halls. The Manheimer Room in the Reuter Center is among the first spaces in Asheville to be fitted with a hearing loop!

Dear OLLI Members,
After the past few weeks when we had very few special events, suddenly the OLLI and UNC Asheville calendars are full of wonderful events to challenge our minds and bodies.
Our community partners will present plays and lectures; today you can attend the last Autumn Players showcase of the 2012-13 season and next Tuesday you can attend a fascinating lecture presented by the Elisha Mitchell Audubon Society. The Wilma Dykeman Legacy will begin a series of lectures to trace this amazing local author's varied legacy; you don't want to miss UNC Asheville history professor Dan Pierce as he traces Dykeman's legacy as historian.
Our campus colleagues at the NC Center for Health and Wellness will present Well-A-Bration on September 16 and 17 at the Sherrill Center, offering various ways to learn more about research on campus and ways we can all contribute to a healthier environment. Every week we feature information about campus lectures, concerts, exhibitions, and sporting events. We hope our members will take advantage of these opportunities to be part of this seriously creative campus.
Here at OLLI, we will welcome new members on September 13 and begin College for Seniors classes on September 16. The beginning of the fall term will feature many learning opportunities for learning in and out of the classroom. Mark your calendar for the first Fab Friday on September 20; Dr. Kevan Frazier will give you the inside story on the fascinating history of UNC Asheville and later in the afternoon you can enjoy the Symphony Talk with Asheville Symphony Orchestra conductor Daniel Meyer.
We are truly lucky to be part of a community that offers us so many opportunities to grow through life.
Catherine Frank
Executive Director
