Dear OLLI Members,
We have just finished another successful Paths to Creative Retirement Weekend.  OLLI's retirement planning programs are unique and engaging because of the extraordinary group of OLLI members who volunteer their time and openly share their experiences to help others make the transition from work to retirement.  Many thanks to Nancy Bragg, Carol Culler, Babs Guardenier, Nick Jordan, Ken Macfarlane, Linda Macfarlane, and Barry Mundt for volunteering their time and talent to design, improve, and implement this program.  Congratulations to Laurel Jernigan for completing her second session of running the program. If you know someone who might benefit from participation in this experience, please share this link to let them know more.
All of you should have received your Fall 2013 schedule by now.  Add/Drop begins at 8 am on Tuesday, September 3. | Autumn Players Readers TheatreSunday,
 September 8, 2:30pm

Mary, Mary, a comedy by Jean Kerr (1922-2003), is scheduled for three matinee performances by The Autumn Players of Asheville Community Theatre (ACT):  Friday and Saturday, September 6 and 7, in 35below at ACT; Sunday, September 8, at UNC Asheville's Reuter Center. Under the direction of Jim Reid, assisted by Gary Gaines, narrated by Walter Goodrich and in partnership with the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, this is the final of five productions of the 2012-13 season of Readers Theatre Showcase. Curtain is at 2:30 pm. Tickets are $5 cash at the door.

Director Jim Reid is a native New Yorker who has served at several colleges and universities as teacher and administrator. He settled in the region in 1997 and became a thespian five years ago. He lists Robert in David Auburn's Proof and Sidney Lipton in Neil Simon's God's Favorite as his favorite roles. He has appeared in three plays produced by The Autumn Players and is excited to be making his directorial debut with the company.Mary, Mary opened on Broadway in 1961 and enjoyed a nearly 4-year run, making it, at the time, the longest running non-musical in Broadway history. Penned by Jean Kerr, author of Please Don't Eat The Daisies, it is a witty comedy centered on a fateful night and day nine months after the divorce of wisecracking Mary (Janell McLeod) and sensible Bob (Kermit Brown). They meet at his apartment in efforts to stave-off an IRS audit. But, the plot thickens when they are joined by Bob's young fiancée Tiffany (Beth Ely) and others (Peter Ely and Peter Johnson).
