Dear OLLI members, Remember that daylight savings time began this morning, so be sure to set your clocks ahead one hour. Many thanks to volunteers and staff who worked on data entry and verification and to OLLI Business Manager Ann Cadle for organizing and running the process. We will send out schedules on Tuesday, March 12, and Add/Drop will begin on Wednesday, March 13 at 8 am. Watch for an email on Tuesday with all the relevant details. We hope you will sign up to join us for our second Hands On Civic Engagement project in the garden at Hall Fletcher Elementary School on March 20 from 3 to 5:45 pm (more details are listed below in the newsletter). Staff and volunteers at Hall Fletcher are doing amazing things to enrich the lives of young children, and this is a great opportunity to learn about their programming and to lend a hand. Our first Hands On Day at Manna Foodbank invigorated participants and led to a great sense of community, and this project is designed to offer a variety of ways to make friendships and make a difference. Contact Laurel Jernigan ([email protected]) to learn more and to be involved in this project or in any of the work of the Civic Engagement Committee. Mark your calendar for next Saturday for another in our series of Civil War lectures, sponsored in conjunction with the Western North Carolina Historical Association. The topic for the lecture on Saturday, March 16, 2 pm, at the Reuter Center, is "Sacred Bodies: Caring for the Dead During and After the War." Our calendar, even between College for Seniors terms, is full of wonderful opportunities to learn and try something new. Thanks to all of our members and community partners who make the Reuter Center and OLLI at UNC Asheville such a vibrant and stimulating environment. Have a great week. Add/Drop Begins Wednesday March 13
8 am
Spring 2013 College for Seniors class schedules will be sent out late in the afternoon of Tuesday, March 12. To change that class schedule, you may drop or add a class by calling or stopping by the Reuter Center after 8 am, Wednesday, March 13. DO NOT call before 8 am Wednesday with changes. We want to work with the people who come to the Center, and we will be less efficient if we are trying to return a long list of phone calls.
During Add/Drop, you may add as many courses as you can schedule at no additional cost (other than $20 fees as required for some of our wellness and recreation courses.)
If you have received the number of courses you requested (up to three), you will not be added to a wait list for your alternate courses and must add yourself to the wait list during the add/drop process. We do not post lists of open or closed classes online because during the add/drop period these lists change so frequently. We will contact you when you move from the wait list to enrollment if you are on a waitlist.
The last time to drop courses for a full refund is 4 pm, March 22.

A Critical Conversation on Affordable Care in NC
March 14, 6 pm
Mountain View Room at the Sherrill Center
A community forum on Medicaid expansion and the Insurance Exchange
Medicaid expansion would increase health care access to 500,000 working poor; provide reimbursement to hospitals for uncompensated care; and create an estimated 23,000 health care industry jobs. Despite these figures, NC lawmakers have voted to block Medicaid expansion. What can we do now? How will the Insurance Exchange work?
Panelists will include Shannon Dowler, Chief Medical Officer, Blue Ridge Community Health Services; Jaclyn Kiger, Attorney, Pisgah Legal Services; Allison Rice, Senior Attorney, Duke AIDS Legal Project and Adam Searing, Director, NC Justice Center's Health Access Coalition.
This event is brought to you by Western North Carolina AIDS Project and community partners: ABIPA, Children First/Communities in Schools, Just Economics, Pisgah Legal Services, Planned Parenthood of Asheville, United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County, WNC Community Health Services and WNC Health Advocates
