Dear OLLI members, Thanks to all of our OLLI staff and volunteers who made our Spring Term 2013 registration a great success, despite gloomy weather. On the first day we processed over 750 registrations and our lines had been cleared by 8:45 am on Tuesday, February 26. We owe particular thanks to OLLI Business Manager Ann Cadle, who coordinates all of our volunteers and manages all of our payments and data entry. We also want to thank the College for Seniors Curriculum Committee and the Workshop Committee for their efforts to provide intriguing programs. Their pursuit of thought-provoking, compelling, and entertaining instructors is the secret of our ongoing success and growth in enrollment. If you would like to teach or know someone who is interested in sharing a passion, please contact Maryann Jones (maryannjfnc@yahoo.com) or Sheila Murphy (murphysh@frontier.com). The deadline for submitting proposals for Fall 2013 is April 15. We hope that you will take advantage of the opportunity to attend the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) lecture by Professor Ted Meigs and to the other UNC Asheville events listed this week. Have a great week, and thank you for your ongoing support of OLLI. Catherine Frank Executive Director |

Creating a Mindful Campus:
Investigating Boundaries
A Weekend of Practice and Conversation
March 22 - 24 at the Sherrill Center.
Those of you interested in or curious about the use of contemplative practices in teaching, learning, and working at UNC Asheville and other educational institutions might find this weekend to be an excellent opportunity to experience a variety of practices with others and to explore ways of incorporating these practices into our work as educators. The weekend is open to all faculty, staff, and students as well as others interested in education.
To help us plan properly for the weekend, we ask you to register by March 4, 2013. Please keep in mind that it is perfectly fine to attend only part of the weekend. However, even if you plan to attend only a few sessions, we'd still like you to register. Registration is free for all members of the UNC Asheville community. For others, registration is $25.
If you would like to purchase lunch on Saturday, prepared by Kids at Work: A Local Youth Culinary Arts Program, you must order and pay for that in advance. This applies to everyone, members of the UNC Asheville community and others. The cost for this lunch is $10.
You may register on-line by going here:http://tinyurl.com/abpqpzw . Questions, contact Rick Chess, 828-251-6576 or email rchess@unca.edu
