Middle School Student Art Displayed at Mint Museum

 through  Sunday

Middle School students studied the life and art work of Charlotte born collage artist Romare Bearden. They looked closely at a large 6 panel work of Bearden's called The Block which illustrates a city street in Harlem in the early 1970's. Using Bearden's The Block as our muse, the students were asked to create a collage work of the place they call home.

Please take time to visit the Student Gallery on the lower level of The Mint Museum (Randolph Road) and support or students! They spent many weeks of hard work paying tribute to their homes.

The following students have artwork on display:

Gillian Taylor, Colin Singh-Latulipe, Santiago Sandoval, Natalie Doxey, Dominic Sultana, Lake Weaver, Jon Callahan, Tori Hancock, Alex Rodgers, Nia Pinckney, Abbas Akmal, Tyler Sturdivant, Noah Hughes, Andrew Henriques, Peyton MacKenzie, Sydney Shaner, Emily Pon-Cooper, Hannah Simpson, Sky Fuller, Caleb Cooper, Netanya Dennis, Steven Stum, Behnam Hanachi, Andrew Blasi, Ben Leach , Lucy Wilson, Chloe Wilson, Alex Shaw, and Madison McKenzie

The remainder of the students work was displayed at the Art Crawl (last Sunday.)

Vive la Art Crawl!

Henri Matisse would have been so proud of all the Countryside artists and performers who participated in last Sunday's Art Crawl. Go to our Facebook page to see photos from this annual event

Much appreciation goes to Paula Canavan, our Volunteer Director of Special Events for all her hard work in planning and executing the many details of an event like this.

Of course, the true geniuses are our dedicated Art Teachers:

Cara Bailey and Sedi Devoe for inspirating our students to artistic greatness!  And special thanks to their talented, fellow faculty members for directing our student performers:
PC Music Teacher - Lee Darling
Drama Troupe Director - Michele Rothschild
