A Way to Prepare!
This Sunday, our children will take a tour of our church school murals and interact with the lessons they share in meaningful and creative ways. Details are located below about an opportunity for you, your family and friends to share fun, food and fellowship. Bring your board games and a potluck meal to share and meet us in Griswold Hall from 6 - 7:30!! Why do you picture an Advent wreath already, you may ask?? You may want to share in First Church's "Advent Wreath Making All-Church Happening!" December 1, 11:30 - 12:15 Sign Up Today and join us right after the late worship service on Sunday, Dec 1 in Griswold Hall (2nd floor of the Fred Moore Christian Ed Building) where you can create your own symbol of Advent Preparation for Christmas. The cost for your metal form and Advent candles is $10. We are all asked to bring various evergreen clippings along with some garden clippers for you to work with. Listen to Christmas music, share fellowship with your First Church family, smell the evergreens and make wonderful memories. Sign Up with Chris Solimene at chris@firstchurchguilford.org or call Chris at 203-453-3324. Sign ups will be open through November 24 to allow time for materials. We get to know God by getting to know God's reflection in each other. I hope you accept and share these invitations to come together in community! Peace and Blessings, Chris If you haven't already submitted a new registration form for each child, please download the form below and bring it this Sunday. Registration Form 2013-2014

Being a Steward of our Ministry What a blessing it is to know some things are FREE in life. The love, support and education the church school First Church Guilford offers comes without any charge!
But, it does not come without cost. The supplies, curriculum, facilities and staff required to provide this ministry to over 100 children and youth each week does have a cost.
Luckily, there are many who believe enough in this ministry and have some means to pledge a weekly or monthly offering to First Church. The volunteers of our Stewardship Committee have asked me to remind our families that this is the time to submit our intended pledges for 2014 which will enable all ministries (including our children and family ministries) how to plan.
There will be a dedication of all pledges at both services on November 24. If you have not returned your pledge card, please do so before that date. If you need a pledge packet, you may pick one up in the church office or in the Narthex. Thank you all for your continued support of our children and family ministries- both prayers of support and the blessings of your gifts. Peace, Chris |

Lending Library Books that deal with children's issues, families and faith issues for kids are available to be borrowed by anyone. The books are on the shelves in Room 9 (next to Griswold Hall) and there is a simple 'lending procedure' card that gives directions on how to borrow a book. Many thanks to Marjorie Colton for working with me to offer these books to families from our Minear Library. Any questions? Ask Chris.

Our Sponsored Children
Our children's ministry has accepted the sacred responsibility of sponsoring two students in South India. Schooling in India is not free as it is in our United States. In partnership with First Church's Board of Community and World Concerns, we will pay for one girl and one boy to attend the King's Matriculation School on the campus of Family Village Farm.
In addition to paying for their schooling fees, which include tuition and a daily lunch, we are encouraged to send letters, cards and of course, our prayers!
Please read their stories, which are posted on the wall just outside the entrance to the Church School from the Sanctuary. You will also see our letters to the children there.
See Chris Solimene if you would like to know other ways you can assist young Gowthami and Raghul. Our combined efforts allow them to receive life-changing hope, trust and optimism through our gifts and prayers...
'Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.'
Said Jesus, Matthew 25:40
