The Board and staff of Crayons to Classrooms would like to take this opportunity to thank our donors, volunteers, collaborative partners, and many others who provide support to our organization. Without your assistance, we could not work to provide school supplies to the teachers in our community who do so much for their students. In the words of William Arthur Ward, "Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings." Thank you for turning all our days into ones filled with joy!

Happy Thanksgiving from the staff of Crayons to Classrooms!

Teachers and Students are grateful...
Students in Allison Hearns' class at Virginia Stevenson Elementary School, Mad River Local Schools, shared this note with us:
"Dear Crayons to Classrooms,
Thank you for all the new school supplies to help us get off to a great start! We are really excited to earn some of the new prizes and books from the behavior treasure chest!"
Love,
Miss Allison's Class

Thanksgiving Day -> Black Friday -> Cyber Monday -> Giving Tuesday (December 3, 2013)
After spending many hours shopping for turkeys, cranberries, and all the fixings, Americans will give thanks with their family and friends and enjoy Thanksgiving feasts together. Sometimes before the delicious meal even begins to digest, anxious shoppers are out the door to shop for Black Friday deals. Cyber Monday rolls around before we know it and time is spent ordering items online that were not found in stores over the weekend. This year, all of us at Crayons to Classrooms hope you will join us on December 3, 2013 for Giving Tuesday - a day to give back.
Plan to get a jump on year-end giving - make your tax deductible donation to Crayons to Classrooms on Giving Tuesday. You can donate securely online, http://dc2c.org/dev/donate/, or send your donation to Crayons to Classrooms, 1511 Kuntz Road, Dayton, OH 45404-1232. Thank you for your support and assisting us to provide students in need with the essential school supplies necessary for them to be successful in school.

Are you looking for tax deductions before the end of 2013?
It is hard to believe, but the arrival of 2014 is just around the corner! Year-end giving comes to mind... and those much needed tax deductions. We would like to remind you of two charitable options that may provide you tax savings while benefiting a worthy charity:
1. IRA Charitable Rollovers are permitted again in 2013. Do not delay taking action if you are interested in this charitable option as the transaction must be completed by December 31, 2013.
Individuals who are age 70 1/2 or older are allowed to make tax-free distributions from their individual retirement accounts to qualifying charities - up to a maximum of $100,000 per taxpayer per year.
Since each person's tax situation is different, please check with your financial advisor regarding how you may personally benefit from the IRA charitable rollover rules and provisions.
2. Do you own appreciated stock? Would you like to avoid paying capital gains tax on those assets? You can transfer stock to Crayons to Classrooms now and enjoy the benefits of tax savings on your 2013 tax return. You will receive a charitable tax deduction for the current market value of the stock and avoid mounting capital gains tax.
If you are interested in benefiting the mission of Crayons to Classrooms while reducing you 2013 tax burden, please contact Deb Seger, fund development manager, by phoning (937) 528-6403 or via email, d.seger@dc2c.org.

First Semester "Shopping" Wraps Up

The last shopping day of first semester for the 2013-2014 school year was Monday, November 25, 2013. We are anxious to complete the tabulation of shopping forms for this semester to see exactly how much merchandise was distributed to teachers of students of need in our community. December will be a month full of activity at Crayons to Classrooms - facilitation of year-end inventory, restocking and switching out product in the store, etc. will keep our staff and volunteers very busy! We open for second semester shopping on Wednesday, January 8. Teachers from eligible schools can schedule their shopping visit now by visiting: http://crayonstoclassrooms.3cfreestore.com/Secure/. We hope to see you soon!
