Dear ,
He's here. Old Man Winter. He has come out of hibernation and presented himself in full force. With the cold temps comes the hustle and bustle of the holidays. What better way to kick off the most wonderful time of the year than with a Christmas Social! Join the Chamber Board of Directors as we host our 2nd Annual event on December 4 downstairs at the new Broad Street Bar & Grill. See below for more information.
The 2000 & Beyond Committee is asking youngsters to put on their PJ's and hop aboard the Hillsboro Polar Express! The festivities kickoff on Friday evening December 5 with a first ever night time lighted parade. The committee is seeking parade entries and is asking the community to help make this the start of a new tradition and the best Christmas parade to date!
Please know that the Chamber is here to help you and your business succeed in our community. If you have ideas or suggestions as to how we can improve our services or add value to your membership please do not hesitate to contact myself or a current Board of Director.
If you have employee promotions, business announcements, grand openings etc. We can help to market and promote your business or announcement. Just one of the many benefits of being a member.
Have a great week!

MAPPING the Future of Your Community
Imagine citizens of Hillsboro, from all walks of life, working together to build a better future. Imagine what we can accomplish. Imagine Hillsboro. Hillsboro has enlisted the help of the MAPPING The Future of Your Community program through the Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs (IIRA) at Western Illinois University to take a proactive approach toward revitalizing our home town through structured community planning and economic development. In a series of five three-hour planning sessions, participants will discuss the following questions regarding our community: - Where are we now?
- Where do we want to be?
- How are we going to get there?
- How do we make it happen?
- How do we maintain the momentum?
During these planning sessions, participants will identify three to six high priority goals for the community, devise an action plan to reach these goals, and then break into smaller groups to begin working toward attaining each goal with continuous support and guidance provided by the IIRA. After the conclusion of the program, participants will organize a community-wide event to share their ideas and developments with the town and encourage local participation in future projects. 50+ volunteers are needed for these focus groups. Young, old, new residents, High School students, business leaders, community organizers, city government...all input is needed. If you would like to be a part of this exciting opportunity to move Hillsboro forward email Lesley for more information. 100% of the program will be community funded by donations and sponsors. If you would like to donate to help offset the cost of the program and to help fund future projects you can donate online by clicking HERE. |
